What's up with the price of compressed air fills at local fields?

I've got one field that charges $6.50 for 4500 fill, another does $7.00 for 4500 and the third charges $6.00 for a 3000!?
Wasn't compressed air supposed to be sooo much cheaper than CO2, like pennies on the dollar. Looks like its time to invest is a scuba tank and DIY air fills. Of course, most fields won't "allow" personal fill stations...grrrr:rolleyes:

Sorry, for the rant, but how much is everyone else paying for air?

paintball is too expensive. I think i might quit and come back to the sport in a couple years, see how much the technology has changed, and hopefully how much cheaper it is.

hmm... sounds like my fields

Indoor place - $5.50 for 2300psi fill
Outdoor place - $3 for 1500psi fill
Store which closed over the summer - $4 for 4500psi fill (noooooooooooooooooooooooo)

I really need a scuba and air compressor now... my RT Pro is getting deprived of true fills!

$10 all day air (they go right up to 4500
$15 admission
$56 / case of Premiums, $66 / case of Marbs
AND the field is BYOP, so most of the time I shoot white box.

The field is meant for 7 v 7, but sometimes it gets up to more than 20 players on a side. Lots of targets... Fill up the 4+3 :D

$10 admission includes field fee and all day air (always at at least 3K - if the compressors are turned on can get 45).

Paint from $45 (whatever is being used as economy) to $60 for marbalizer. BYOP for anything but field rental guns.

$20? (I think) rental includes gun, mask, air tank and 500 rounds

Downside - no refs, refs are a volunteer basis (however with half a dozen (roughly) tournament teams based at the field there are normally refs on teh field).

Two fully netted arenas - multiple woods fields up to like 30 acres large if needed - depending on where boundaries are stated. Covered staging area.

Camp Pendelton Paintball Park:

$12 admission (all day $6 for half)

$1 per 1000 psi on tanks at or under 68ci extra $1 for
over 68ci (they can only fill to 2200psi)

BYOP, but field paint (Blaze) is I think $65

I got two 3000psi 88 cubic feet scuba tanks at a garage sale for $10. Only catch is that they had to be hydroed for $35 each at the local scuba shop. Can only fill to around 2200- 2100psi and about 6-8 fills at that pressure.
I think to fill one of these things is like $3. So after awhile, the tanks will basically pay themselves off.

place i get my scuba filled at raised prices from $3 to $5 :( still it's not bad tho.

Let see, case of kick'n $65, field fees $10, all day air (up to 3k) $10.

other field, case of paint (can't remember what kind) $60, field fees $5. they don't have Compressed air there.

This is insane, there is no paint worth over $70. Nothing is worth anything over that. But there is this drunk guy who runs a field near me, he charges $6 per fill. I dont play there alot. If we go there and he's real drunk, we scam the hell out of him, and he doesnt know the difference. Think about it though, it's $6 per fill!!!
