from all the posts i see, the little avatar on the left side tells the date people joined. and i believe that October 2000 is the farthest back one that i've seen.

so,

shouldn't an AO Anniversary be coming up shortly? :)

its been 3 years and still going strong, wouldn't this call for a celebration? :D

i know what you're talking about. it's now october, oldest joined date you see is october 2000, it's been three years since the dawn of AO...or since the servers reset ;)

I think that they had spome server problems, and a lot of people were dumped from the server..

That would sound about right for the time frame of AGD purchasing AO.

AGD purchased AO on November 3, 2000.

Hmm....so we might be reaching that 1,000,000 post mark around the 3 year anniversary. Man...it's been that long...where has the time gone?:)

ish!:)

I do believe I had to re-register after the "Incident"...hence the 2001 date under my name. :(

Only chronologically. I'm waaaaay less mature than him.:D

I was around for a while before it Andy sold the forums. I did have to re-register after my account was lost.

Oh the good old days. Well some of these folks are here longer than me for sure. Some of em from all the way back in the day before AGD bought the site from Andy.

Me? I started lurking around here in November of that year right after I heard AGD bought it or was buying it. Can't recall which. I had just bought my first Mag and found this site around the time it was being bought is what I can recall. And after it had turned over I waited a few months while before I actually joined. I read a lot of stuff here over a few months. Finaly settled in as this being the best place to go. And it still is.

Since then I have risen to the level of my incompetence. :D

Happy birthday AO!

I'm starting to feel older and older as I'm reading this thread...

3 years is a long time. And I'm willing to bet that a great deal of it was spent here on AO. ;)

I found Andy's original AO in 1997 when I bought my first 'Mag and did some web research to find out more about it. Been on ever since.

The "Wayback Machine" rules!

Although, I wish I had found this sight earlier. But I have to admit this is one of the best places to stay current with 'mag stuff, as well as get knowledgeable responses about the industry and other technical paintball questions.

holy cow...
i didn't know that there was even a pre-2k AO :o

btw, whats this talk about an "incident?" :)
sounds like rather interesting history if you ask me :D

also,

technically, the AO birthday would be November 5th, right?
but then again, there's registered members since October 15th, and that just so happens to be tomorrow..

so, is it a big ol HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to AO tomorrow, or in 3 weeks? :)

Im guessing AGD bought AO and they had to reset the server or something and all the accounts got lost?
