How much paint

Ok... I play recball on Sundays - I get to the field about 7 or 8 (I help out for discounted paint prices), we start play at about 11 and I usually play till about 6.

When I first started a half a case of paint in a week was normal... than it became a full case... now I've noticed that a case and a half is about right... for tournaments I bring two or three cases (small tournaments can expect 6-12 games). Coincidentally I play front and carry three tubes. Is this kind of paint usage normal? What do you all go through in a day.

Just curious really, if it makes any difference I have moved from a Mini-mag to a X-valved, intelliframed ULE mag. I'm wistfully considering an E-mag over winter but gotta wonder on the paint thing.

I'd say it's pretty light.

But at Shatner I shot 4 1/2 cases and everyone made fun of me.

I have been known to shoot as much as 2 cases in a day of recball...and I too play front with three pods. I am moving to the back though, so lets just watch that number rise.

It's perfectly normal.

I generally play on a half case a day on recball.
I have found that being selective with my shots gives better results than just spitting paint.
Some games you just need to use loads of paint to make it through though.Get down to a few on the other side vs just you , or something , and you hope like hell you have a few pods with you....

For recball my paint ussage varies between 500 and a case a day. This usuall depends on a few things. Days I bring my pump out for a few games, I'll shoot closer to 500. Other days there are enough of the 'regulars' there that I'll feel comfortable playing front without getting angled out or bunkered every five seconds. =) Those days I'll shoot around half a case. Finally on days where I'm not comfortable with the others playing back (days when we get alot of rentals and such) for me, I'll play back to keep them alive longer, and usually end up shooting closer to a case.

Tournaments I play front, carry out 2-3 pods, and shoot up to a case and a half. (6 games)

this last saturday I shot probably a little over 600 balls (finished off the remaining bag of evils and began to finish off the first bag of marbalizers), and that's alot for me. Usually I shoot a minimum of 300 in a full day of play and no more than 500. that's usually b/c I only buy a bag of paint at a time, but now that I've got a connection to low cost high quality paint (I'm getting RPS Marbalizers at a very nicely reduced cost . . . it's nice to have friends with connections :D) I buy by the case. I have yet to use up half of the current case of marbalizers.

At practice I use like...1 and a half bags a game, in recball probably 2 full bags a game, I shoot so crazy when I play recball I get excited, lol. But thats not a lot man, I mean..between myself and the team..were looking at 10-15 cases, and thats GOOD, some guys from Philly Eclipse managed to carry 10 pods, and shoot off a hopper on the break, and never close the lid. :p

I usually play front and do stupid stuff when playing rec (ie. go for stuff that I wouldn't in a tournament). Its good practice for me at least...

Anyways... I shoot 3/4 of a case on an average day. Although when teams are practicing and I jump on the field I play more conservatively and have been known to dump 2 cases in one day. (when I get pissed off and start playing back...)

I'm about 3/4 case for a full day of recball.

What amazes me is people who shoot 2+ cases per day. All my local fields are FPO for around $60/$65 case. I work full time, but spending $120 for paint + field fees and air makes for an expensive recball day. Especially if you play every weekend.

In recball I usually shoot 500-1000 for woods ball or 1000-2000 for speedball. In tounaments I play front with two pods, and usually use about 1000(My back players rule:D )

I play back and generally drop 7 pods a game. Recball I usually drop 4. It isn't my fault though it is that darn X-Mag I bought.

that 1/4 case works for me to suit my style of play. so for others and their style of play i can understan more paint but crap some of you shoot alot. :D

Thats funny... cuase normally when we are picking teams for woods play I get picked with the comment "he shoots a lot of paint." If I get picked for speedball its with the comment "ever seen a front player try to lane off the break... watch"

Between myself and my GF 6 cases a day is normal. We both play back and carry 7 pods each. Haven't played too much rec ball so no sure but prob about the same. Old habits die hard....I shoot alot.

I just built a pump so we'll see what happends with that.

and usaly my hopper lasts about 3 games.(depends on play)

Im always a front player....Im always the first at the 50 and some times there 40....a full case in 12 hours. Quality not Quanity.

HEHE I know exactly how you feel. I used to only shoot a case a day whne I played. I am up to 4-5 cases a day and the only way I can afford to play is because I work at a field and get nice discounts! It's like a desease, you cannot stop shooting.

Well, let's not confuse "normal" and "necessary", as they are apparently two different things.

Half a case a day is typical for me. Hopperball all day long.


I actually went to the hardware store today and bought some PVC pipe and fittings. I'm curious to see how well I do on an airball field with 20 rounds on the gun and a bunch of stock class tubes.

when i play speedball i play like 1 hopper and 2-3 pods a game (either that or get shot off the break lol) becouse i play front.


in rec ball i ussally play hopper ball but i do cary one pod in my pocket (i take my pack off for recball) just incase i need a few more)

Ugh 100 dollars a case for ZAP crap. It is a GREAT field, very friendly people, but the price is HUGE!. I usually shoot only a half-case in 6 hours, but that may change soon...

Same here when I started. It's the same today as then, though, except that more of my balls land on target than they used to. So, my paint consumption has only gone up slightly, but my effectiveness has skyrocketed.

It's all about learning fire discipline :).
