The vBulletin software keeps track of dates and times based on the unix epoch value, which started on midnight, 1/1/1970, Pacific Standard Time. The software attempts to apply its timezone offset value to the epoch value, which causes accounts with a creation date of "0" to be displayed as 12/31/1969.
