Strider

A local dealer hit upon a rare 'atic sale' to use the phrase...

60 new in box VM68's!

I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen the pics. They're from a dealer I know from Ontario.

EDIT - There is now a thread in the Dealers Forum on how to contact the man with them.

thats crazy. those things are over 10 years old brand new in the box.

that ranks up there with the warehouse manager from nps who misplaced 1000 hpa tanks in the warehouse and never found them till the hydro date had expired.

ha-ha!
The first tournament I ever played in I used a VM, second tournament I played in I used a Mini Mag. ;)

I actually owned 11 of these at one time, back in the day when me and a buddy(He had 11 also) had to supply all the gear to get people to play, and we still had to beg people to come out!

Holy Vm fans! :)

Hang on for a bit guys, I'm just going to get permission to post his name/number/email/price before I do.

Then I'll post a post here with a link to a Dealers Forum thread (since it dosen't truley belong here for selling) and respond to my bloating PM box. :)

I must be kind of out of the loop a little (been playin for 5 years, but I'm still not "oldschool"). What's the big deal about VM68's?

I'm not familiar with the VM68, why all the buzz?

Do people like these because they're old classics?

The VM68 is well known for its extreme reliability, durability and upgradability.

They were one of the first successful semiauto lines. I know for most around my area who are 'old school' but not from the age of splatmasters, the VM was the entry tourney marker. If you couldn't afford a high end semi (Mag or Cocker), these were your best choice.

They're the most rugged marker I've ever seen. Mine will still be shooting when all of the Tippman line has stopped working. ;) At least IMO. :D

Very reliable, and heavy as a cinderblock. I think the all americans used them waaay back in the day as well.

Man does this bring back memories ... you all think Mags have a distinctive sound, wait till you hear a VM with a back bottle shooting ...

The ping sounds is almost painful LOL ... damn good markers though ... gotta love any marker with which you can do benchpresses in-between matches. :)

You used to see people running around with multiple 20oz bottles hook up to them ... you could do a back-bottle 20, bottom-line 20, and with an adapter a front under-barrel 20 ... :)

Isnt that the truth ... I wonder if someone can find the old Intruder kit for the VM's ...

It mounted the front bottle down towards the grip frame at an angle ... looked pretty nice :)

No, they're late model VMs. Those are plastic rails, not aluminum. Plus you can see the first 3 digits in the serial number (598) which means they were made in May, '98. Sheridan stopped making them in mid '98 so these could be some of the last VMs that were made.

Also, Crosman bought out Sheridan in '91, not PMI. Starting in '92 Crosman started making some changes to the VM. They slowly streamlined the VM's manufacturing process to reduce costs. They didn't make any major changes, just small things here and there.

$120 isn't a bad price. Nothing spectacular, but still fair. If I didn't already have a new-in-box VM I'd snatch one up.

If you look closely at the boxes you can see the date stamp of april and may 1998 on the boxes themselves..

the more i look at those pic the more i want one. on my old one i ran the dual bottles and had a 18inch barrel on it...the thing was freaking long. of couse back in the day it was all woods play and i could get away with it. like some have said, i regret selling mine...now i have to look for things to put on ebay to sell....

Hey, welcome to AO Chris! I see VM Empire caught my thread. :D Though, thats where I first caught the info abou them. Weird round about eh? :)

Heh, yeh I used to run dual bottles on my Magnum for Tourney play. I never had a longer barrel than the stock magnum barrel though. :)
