This is the new addition to our family, took her out to the field last night, she seems fond of eating hellfire, which would be a first out of anyone ive seen eat it.

look at the third picture i posted, see how the ears are not flopped over? thats because they were clipped or cropped. the tail is bobbed to make it short, i prefer it to be all the way off, but alot just cut it really short

i believe the original reason was so that the ears and tails were not bitten or ripped off, altho i could be wrong.

its just done now for tradition.

Her tail was bobbed before we got her, but no plans on cropping her ears at the moment... I dont know it just seems mean to do, would rather not put it thru undue pain just for fashion/tradition. Also wouldent it make the dog more prone to ear problems having them all open like that all the time?

bah, you cant have a boxer with floppy ears, its just not right, not right i tell you

but.....its your dog:)

i dont think there are any kind of ear problems that you can get from cropping the ears.

my grandparents were vets and we have never had a boxer that has not had the ears clipped, its basically a tradition. like i said because these dogs use to be fighting boxs, hense the name, boxers. ears were clipped for good reasons, obviously so they cant be bitten off.

and personaly long eared adult boxers are not as attractive as boxers with clipped ears. when my dog had her ears clipped she was over it in like 2 days, then her stitches came out in 2 weeks and never made the slightest hint she was in pain after the original clipping. i highly suggest that you speak with your vet about it. he will know the proper time to do it, because you have to wait until they start to stand up on their own(ears). and even the akc has only pictures of clipped boxers. but i know what your thinking, sure they look cute with floppy ears, and your right, they do, as puppies.

i would advise you to look up as many pictures as you can from the internet, of both long and clipped eared boxers, there is a BIG difference in appearance! but hey, do what you like, you paid for her:) its the same dog if the ears are done or not.

Cliff

which of these do you think looks better?

edit- i just wanted to add that i wouldnt really be someone to ask, its just the way we have always done it. ears and white boxers are two things that im adimate(sp) about. but hey, enjoy the dog, they are great!
