hehehe, it actually shot really good afterwards.

I guess the owner of stiffi barrels was at the world cup and to show off the barrel he pulled out a cinder block and whacked the barrel 20 times and put dents into the cement, then put it on a cocker and shot a tight grouping.

The barrel above broke when the owner was telling us about this and smacked it on a wood table two times, lol

I watched the stiffi video, you know, the one where they toss it in the air and smack it on a rock. In every case, they hold it up by its front to show that it wasnt damaged, leading me to suspect that the porting on the front is the weak point. As evidenced by the damage on that one.

"Will not break, will not brea...it broke"

Isn't that some kind of porn site? j/k

Carbonfiber is not partial to low velocity impacts. That broke because the stress points set up by the porting. Too bad I liked those barrels.

Just sand off the front part and it should still shoot fine :D

That makes me worry now, because I just ordered one last night.

Not that I would ever beat it on a table or anything for that matter.

I have a 14" stiffi and my girl luvs me for it...

It is quite as hell and very accurate. I've only shot it in the backyard, but I'll let you know how it performs this weekend in an actual game scenario...

I wouldn't worry at all, unless it starts happening a lot. I have worked with cf before. It is possible to screw up the weaves or something to make it somewhat weak here and there. Looks like those porting they did might have cause some stress along the outside there.

The same reason that everybody with level ten sticks their finger in the breech.

haha. O man, I've seen a few broken barrels, mostly the older dye boomsticks. My friend cracked one sliding into a bunker.

i saw a Powerlyte barrel snap in half at the point where the front screws into the back, that was freaky and cool at the same time

On the other hand, how often are you going to repeatedly beat your barrels against a rock or table?

Stiffi's are great barrels. Surprisingly forgiving on paint sizes, shoot clean quickly if you get a break, and are amazingly quiet, even more quiet than my JJ's. In our impromptu tests at the shop, we shot a 'Cocker with and without (screwed in a JJ 12") a Stiffi. The backblock made more noise than the gun did firing. We then did the same with my Emag, and the Stiffi was definately quieter.

They also weigh less than 2oz! I plan on getting one or two.

Man, I won't ever buy one just because of the stupid adds where it shows a hot girl holding the barrel and it says "Do you have a stiffi yet?" To me that says if you can't make a product that works well, design adds that make people look twice.

I agree with army on the quiet factor, i shoot one on a matrix, and its so damn quiet, just a puff puff puff... and i have beaten it on the co2 bulk tanks repeatedly, never at the tip, i knew better then that :) (its the free one they give to store owners to introduce the product anyway) Im definitely going to work my way towards a 5 stiffi barrel set, despite the cost, thats how much of a believer they made me.

Does the porting on the tip really make it THAT much quieter than a scepter/boomstick? Because my SFL Emag is VERY loud with the scepter on it.

Basically, I want to know if it is such a drastic difference to warrant me buying one of those tips for use on a boomy.

Theres the porting on the tip as well as holes along the barrel tip, there is a step down in bore size.

Yeah, about as hot as the smart parts girls... in other words, not hot at all:rolleyes:

Eww, the worst are the pbgear models, ugly old ladies. I dont think anyone in paintball can afford hot models yet.

I guess that's what happens when you shoot ball bearings through your marker :)

judging by the pictures the porting shoots the air back towards the person shooting the gun if i remember it was either this barrel or another that it makes it so its louder to the shooter but quieter to others.

but if you look at those pics they are angled back so maybe its the same idea? :)

Oh, and a 15 foot warpfeed billboard with a topless women covered only by a hopper outside the IAO isnt? Get off your soap box. The "dagrading" arguement is so played out on this forum.
