back in my n00bish days i always wanted a see through barrel. i was wondering...

is it a smart idea to make a glass barrel ot plastic barrel? that would look pretty sweet in my opinion.

It could be done with some high grade plexi-glass to meet durability standards.

but who would make it?

I dont know, you could try and market the idea to the maker of the Stiffi barrels since they are specializing in non-metal barrels.

umm, anyone heard of system x around here. they already make polycarbonate barrels, and look pretty cool, but i heard they suck at accuracy. but i guess you could try an make one yourself, and maybe this time, they would shoot strait.

i saw one on paintball2xtremes magazine back in 2001. i'm not sure if that was a real thing or just a picture. but i think it was an ad for PMI.

and i can't find the system x barrel anywhere. not even on their official website!

I believe there was one called the ramrod, but also my friends pirahna came with a clear plastic barrel.

if a talon can shoot accurately with a plastic barrel then any gun can

barberjohn

yea, system x may not make them anymore, bc i havent seen them in an add in ages. ahh, here they are http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/1074/, and now i do remember, they were half aluminum and half clear, but i still seem to remember a one piece that was all polycarbonate, oh well. oh, and xtreme enterprises also makes color angel breeches and volumizers.

Might wanna recheck that link... its a review of a Pirhana.

The Ramrod is the only barrel that I have ever seen thats see-through to some extent. I am not sure if they still make them any more, but the looked like an awesome concept the first time I saw an add for one in a magazine.

PMI made a clear polycarbonate (plexiglass) barrel on their Piranha EXT's

and i think it was xtreme enterprises that made a barrel kit that had clear and colored polycarbonate tips to it

and i'm still looking for a ramrod... any threads... it's gonna become a freak front

they have teflon/ceramic coated barrels such as the J&J ceramic and the teflon coated equation inserts

no to wood, and no to lead

you might wanna looka little more closely, hes talking about teh barrel on the parinah, its called the prism barrel, and it has a little metal on it (no actually part of the barrel though) but u hear that paintballs travel out of the barrel so fast that you cant see them come out, but its still cool

What? PMI is the second best company in the world IMO. I owned a Pirnha, and it never let me down. My RT on the other hand had many problems. Evil paint, PMI premiums, Marbalizers, Advantage, and tons of other products they make are fantastic. PMI is second only to WDP.

Actually let me restate this....

I dont exactly get a hard-on for PMI barrels, I believe that this is one of their weakest areas among some other great products.

Have you guys ever seen a ramrod shoot? It's loud as hell, not to mention inacurate. A cool idea, none the less. Glass would probably be difficult to make sense it's so fragile. Now, the future of paintball is lasers that guide the ball along....yeah.

Yeah, the Ramrod's design didnt make much sense at ALL. Every aspect of it seems like cheez. I would imagine that it KILLS your air efficiency too.

lol every time u shoot the ball would break cuz of the rough serface.

now a wooden barrel would be kool. put sum water seal on the inside and it would be slick as heck and even easyer to clean:D
