Is it just me or is an LCD barely worth $400 these days? Given, they are a "step" behind the A4/speed, but it's still a gun that retailed for $1000+ last year.

Top Secret

You can thank WDP for whipping out the Speed and A4 so quickly to kill the resale of the LCDs and IR3s. I hear LED resales are dipping down into the 2-300 range.

Zumina
11-16-2003, 08:54 PM
yahs, LEDs are sub $300 now. Just tears my heard out to see NIB IR3s go for $650 on ebay.

as we speak im sellin mine for 600

Cliffio
11-16-2003, 09:11 PM
you just explained why lcds and leds are worth squat

you can get a new or close to new ir3 for under 800 bucks easy.

so naturaly lcds and led, being older models are going for less.

other than 2k3 lcds, there hasnt been an lcd made since 2001.

I wish lcd's were selling for 400. I only found one for 500.

Its unfortunate that people aren't buying them for what they are worth performance wise, but what the market is dictating. A good deal of players selling their LEDs, LCDs, IR3s, and Speeds are looking to get A4s other markers. In many cases i've seen people get the money to buy their next marker THEN sell their old one. So people are selling their old Angels for just about any price under the sun, just need to get rid of them. Thus affecting people who want to get a reasonable profit on their Angel, to put cash towards a new marker.

Seriously I don't think theres been any other company thats made incorporated so many insignificant performance upgrades, not offer them as upgrades, and then roll them into a marginally better marker, but calling it the best thing since sliced bread.

Cliffio
11-16-2003, 10:01 PM
the speed was never proclaimed as the best

they have 2 markers the a4 did not replace the speed.

its not suppose to be the same thing.

i would also disagree with the comment that no significant things were added, each model has at least one big difference

lcd screen on the led. firing modes, dwell, rof, temp all were easily changed thanks to the lcd board.

ir3 had the space grip and the first angel with an anti-chop system

a4 has external trigger adjustments, new anti-chop system, much shorter and lighter, lower operating pressures, higher ROF

the speed doesnt really fit in there because it offers a lower price than the ir3 however the lcd screen is removed but it has sensi instead of cops

so to say that there were little improvments wouldnt be fair

i love my lcd, and i prob wouldnt trade it for something worth more unless i was desperate for cash. the ace makes it unbelievably sexy and it performs like a champ. although it did have some lpr probs recently, it still is the tops and is uber sexy.....and the ace makes it worth more :D

All resale values (of PB guns) has gone down.

AGD
11-16-2003, 11:22 PM
For a long time you guys have relied on the fact you can trade markers around for very little additional money. These days are probably coming to a quick end as oversupply drives down prices across the board. Pretty soon your used gun will have so little value that you will just keep it instead of sell it.

A new model every 6 months (which is where we are at about now) gives the marketing perception that the old ones aren't cool. An LCD is THREE GENERATIONS AGO! Lets see, that means it would be equivalent to my great grandfather....

I want an Angel LCD for $400!!!!!!

I wonder how cheap they'll be next Summer. The fact that I may be able to buy one with some extra cash just laying around is awesome. I remember when I started playing paintball and the LCD had just barely come out, man, anyone who owned one was a God.

Doesn't hurt my feelings any cause I'm looking to get a couple angels in the not so distant future.

Its a shame too, I remember when I first started and the word Angel meant you had a super accurate fastest shooting gun in the world, but that was really just amongst myself and friends. Anywho, it really does suck the market is like that, if you ACE and LCD you have a REALLY ripping marker. But I can see why this is happening, the newer Angels gotta compete with the new guns that have like 0 kick (or older ones such as THE MAG! w007) and no capabilities of chopping and the Speed and A4 were the answer (although the ACE is better than the Sensi IMO, and they still give a bit of kick). If anything thank Dynasty for keeping LCD's and all in the spotlight, those boys will ACE any Angel and still rock with it. :D

Oh yeh, a guy on my team is selling me his 2k2 CNC LCD with a 68/45 I believe for about 400, just because the battery is dead and he doesnt wanna bother fixing it. Sad days..

Hmmph. I just sold my 2K1 Fly to one of my photographers for $650...granted it came with a CP barrel kit, Eclipse Blade frame and other goodies, so it's a fair deal.

Of course, I did just snag a 2K1 Adrenanline Angel for $510, so I dunno. Shame really, because the guns are worth more than they're fetching on the market. I'll probably keep this one, as it's one of 15 in the world...

Zumina
11-17-2003, 03:59 PM
Well the kicker to me is that Angels are so inexpensive, yet a dressed up POS Impulse can fetch $1000+.

Just a heads up, Cobra is getting rid of the rest of their Cobra LCDs for $790 (just in green, single trigger), awesome deal. I wish I had the money laying around.

Very true. Almost all mechanical cockers are worth 1/2 of what the were worth last year. Manufacturers like Dragun, Psycho Ballistics and a host of others have turned the gun/system's proud heritage into a cash cow that pays homage to the spyder.

actually cliff i dont belive there is any 2k3s there are how ever 2k2 limited editions, and 2k2 base models(not sure about the cut and carve) i know for a fact they had 2k2 base lcds because i had one

speedyejl
11-18-2003, 06:50 PM
There are 2k3s they were released right before or after the speed.

Also the decrease in resale isn't only because of the market being flooded its partly because of higher performance markers coming out. Which indirectly does cause the market to become flooded but only slightly. A cocker that cost $1000 in '00 isn't going to stand up next to a $1000 Trix, even if the cocker was in like nib condition.

Cliffio
11-18-2003, 06:50 PM
sorry, there were 2k3 lcds

however there is no such thing as a 2k2 milling style

i dont know why ken would tell someone that, sure you could buy new angel lcds in 2002, hell you can still buy them now if you look in the right places. but wdp does not actually put dates on any guns, however the ir3 was the only gun to actually be produced, lcds were still being sold by like action village and whatever claimed to be 2002, but no such model exists from wdp.

it was guns produced at the end of the lcd line in january of 2k2 its simply a different serial number it didnt have a date on teh gun though but yes i thought the ir3 was the 2k2 but he told me that it wasnt "technically" the case either way i dont really care as ai dumped the marker about a month after getting it for a ratpulse and cash(back when lcds were worth something)

i think there was a claret, a teal, a red, and a green

but i cant remember, the fly one was limited

i dont think there is a way to tell the differnce though, other than serial numbers

so how do you know if my angel is 2k1 or 2k2 by just lookin at it, or do you know at all for sure that its a 2k1?

Cliffio
11-18-2003, 11:46 PM
well there wasnt a milling style in 2k2, so therefor no actual 2k2 angels, i mean yeah you could buy new lcds in 2k2 but that doesnt make it a 2k2 model lcd

as you can see by these two pics there are actually two versions of the butter knife milling, therefore, 2 milling styles.

I've got a sweet angel for sale its an 2k1 Lcd. Only 28k on shot counter. I want someone to buy for 600 and I'll be super happy. I'm sad that angels have gone done in price so much :(. They are sweet guns. IMO LCD w/ ace is one of the best guns.

Look under for the link.

I don't see this as a bad thing. sure some people are gonna be out some money but they should have known that stuff depreciates with time and use. Also it means that if a person can get an angel or other used gun that will perform well then they may progress further into the sport. Who wouldn't want to buy two guns for what one would originally cost? And I've always felt paintball guns are way over priced any way...
