Ok, a few days ago my brother was bringing my friend back to college in Boston, from southern CT. While he was there he got stuck in some snow and blew his transmission.

One option is to tow it back and repair it, which will cost about 2k.

Next option is to tow it back, sell the toyota, and buy a new car (car of choice is a 92 GTI with 16k miles on it for 1500).

Little background on the toyota, 199k miles on it... so it's gonna break down again pretty soon.

The car is currently in transit to the shop (not there yet), and we could easily call the tow-truck and have him bring it to my house instead.

What would you do?

Don't buy the GTI.

I want it for myself!

92 gti with 16k miles? sure it's not rolled? that's highly unlikly

Yeah man I figured it was stolen too...

But I'm trying to make a point to my parents, the majority would go with a 92GTI with 16k (be it rolled or not), over a 92 Camry with 199k. Even if it is rolled, I'd say its highly unlikely that it has 199k on it.

I would have them bring it to my house, go to a junkyard buy a tranny, drop the old one, put in the new one and for $100 your set.
