I have a couple.

"Throw a rock into a pack of dogs. The one that yelps the loudest is the one that got hit."

"You can live for many causes, but only die for one. Chose that one very carfully."

"I fear neither death or pain. Only failure."

"I want to stand my ground unshaking. I want to tremble when I kneel."

"Never Get Your Hopes Up, It Makes Disappointment Alot Easier."

And finally the most paintball related one

"The haze clears on a sunday."

Oh one more paintball related but incredibly long.

"Why the travel, the losses, hours of practice? Because the lure of living a paintball life is just to potent, the products of the road, are memories forever. At tournaments it feels like for once you actually get to live as loud as you want. Its worth the sacrifices, its worth all the bullcrap. Because if you work hard enough a Sunday will roll around and you’ll be in the huddle, screaming, with your hand in, one among five. Playing for the world title and suddenly all those clichés that you’ve ever heard make sense, and you are defined. You say it to yourself and it means everything. I am a paintball player and this moment, right here, is my life. "

I have a few, all by Chuck Palahniuk:

"According to the agent, the biggest factor that makes you a saint is the amount of press coverage you get ... for instance, if Jesus Christ had died in prison, with no one watching and with no one there to mourn or torture him, would we be saved? ... The key to salvation is how much attention you get. How high a profile you get. Your audience share. Your name recognition. Your press following. The buzz."

"You realize people take drugs because it's the only real personal adventure left to them in their time-constrained, law-and-order, property-lined world. It's only in drugs or death we'll see anything new, and death is just too controlling."

"You realize there's no point in doing anything if nobody's watching. You wonder, if there had been a low turnout at the crucifixion, would they have rescheduled? You realize the agent was right. You've never seen a crucifix with a Jesus who wasn't almost naked. You've never seen a fat Jesus. Or a Jesus with body hair. Every crucifix you've ever seen, the Jesus could be shirtless and modeling designer jeans or men's cologne."

"I see in Fight Club, the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential. And, I see squandering. God damn it! An entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables: slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing car and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy sh** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man--no purpose or place. We have no great war. No great depression. Our great war's a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars . . . but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact and we're very, very pissed off."

Jon:

And from the other side

Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
- Margaret Mead

War is an instrument entirely inefficient toward redressing wrong; and multiplies, instead of indemnifying losses.
- Thomas Jefferson

True pacifism is not unrealistic submission to an evil power. ...It is rather a courageous confrontation with evil by the power of love, in the faith that it is better to be the recipient of violence than the inflicter of it, since the latter only multiplies the existence of violence and bitterness in the universe, while the former may develop a sense of shame in the opponent, and thereby bring about a transformation and change of heart.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

I know war as few other men now living know it, and nothing to me is more revolting. I have long advocated its complete abolition, as its very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a method of settling international disputes.
- Douglas MacArthur

To wage a war for a purely moral reason is as absurd as to ravish a woman for a purely moral reason.
- H.L. Mencken

HoppysMag

to counter that of Margaret Mead

Never underestimate the power of stupid people, in large groups.

"the only true international language is that of the fist" -un known

and in responce to all pacifist quotes

"In Germany, they first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me -- and by that time there was nobody left to speak up."
-Martin Niemöller

Still wanna sit around, see if things will work themselves out?

"The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."
-Albert Einstein

"Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph."
-Haile Selassie

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

It amazes me how people feel that pacifism means the willingness to do nothing, and war is the willingness to do something, when in fact, it is reversed.

although you are right, in part, in description. but in practice. pacifist offer nothing constructive.Believing things can happen doesnt mean they will. so you are wasting your effort and and time. and in no way is it reversed. to think that no physical action is justified is rediculous. to think that all things can be solved peacefully is an unrealistic story book fantasy.im not a war monger but i know the truth.

"Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding."

Ralphie was far from a genius and barely an intellectual. That anyone would buy into his rubbish can only explain why people bought into Hitler's rubbish. Insignificant minds needed something to buy into. Peace can never be obtained through understanding, because true peace would require complete understanding. Neither is possible. However true peace can be achieved through complete genocide, which is perhaps the most horrible act of war. Its amazing Ralphie was so wrong. Remember Ralphie if your nose bleeds it’s because you are picking your nose too much, or not enough.

I have never believed that pacifism means the willingness to do nothing; I have always believed that pacifism means the over-abundance of stupidity to see reason beyond one's own ignorant beliefs.

My favorite quote:

"I felt like I was reborn. All the nervousness went away and was replaced with this powerful feeling of calm and control. As the show progressed I metamorphosized into a different person. All the bad self esteem and insecurity melted away and was replaced by confidence and conviction. I was not a greaser, a jock, or any other label kids put on you in school. I was Steve Vai and I was playing my guitar and it didn't matter if I was cute, ugly, cool, liked or disliked. That damn guitar and the feeling of being on the stage changed my entire view of who I was, and what the world meant to me. I was 13 years old and discovered there was no turning back. This is what I wanted to do, had to do, and was destined to do in this particular life. It was very nice." - Steve Vai

Incorrect. Humans can never understand everything. Peace between humans is impossible. And to demonstate the fact that true peace is impossible, as long as one person is willing to do bodily harm to another human, even though they understand everything about another person, true peace doesn't exist. I'm willing to be that person. I'm willing to know everything about you and still to bodily harm to you. Why? To prove I'm right. And that is why true peace can never exist (or at least as long as I'm alive, which is all I care about). So how can true peace exist, if I'm willing to destroy it?

-Carnifex-

Exactly, through understanding there can be peace. He never once said it was attainable.

Edit: I believe understanding brings about tolerance and acceptance, but I'm not going to argue it. I just wanted to refute that Emerson was a blowhard.

Then what he said is tantamount to: "If I knew everything, I would be the smartest man alive." No kidding. What good are grand statments of purpose, if they can't be applied to reality? They mean nothing. Emerson was not just a blowhard, but a self-important blowhard. While I find Henry David Thoreau extremely banal and asinine (why use civil disobediance within the system, when you can use civil unrest and overthrow the system, unless your idea wasn't that popular and no one would have backed a revolution, so you should have just kept your mouth shut) at least he had the fortitude to test his ideas. Emerson just spouted platitudes to the mindless masses.

-Carnifex-

He didn't say that at all. It was more than likely a reference to Transcedentalism than the world, i.e. communion with nature bringing about a sense of peace.
