Thinkin of buying a phantom, because Im wanting to try other forms of play besides tourney ball. Im thinking of gettin a phantom and puttin nitro and a revi on it (just so I dont have to shake the hopper). Im also gonna buy the 12 gram changer and tubes for stock play only. Im still gonna play tourney ball with my ULE mag, but I heard stock play helps refine your skills and accuracy for other forms of play tell me what you think.

I'd recommend you start with the VSC and whatever barrel length you like (I find the 6 to be a little short, the 11 is great).

Gravity feed breeches are relatively cheap, so if you order from CCI (not open weekends) you can get whatever anno you want and get matching accessories at the same time.

for a lot more info on phantoms check out the official owners group (http://www.phog.org).

I will make the arguement that once you become good with a pump, you will be able to use it in normal tournaments. The only thing I cannot do with my sterling is run up the tape and shoot across the field as I run. Or try and bunker more than 1 person in the same bunker.

So long as I don't count those moves, semi or Pump I get the same number of eliminations.

oh and if you want a light setup look into the 13/3000 HPA tanks (do a google search) they are great nitro setups for pumps. ~300 shots per fill.

Good luck and glad to see another player interested in pump.:D

hey Im not gonna use the pump for tourneys, unless its pump only tourney. I already have a mac attack nitro system do you think that will work. Its 68ci over 3000psi

I was also serouiusly thinking of buying a phantom just for exactly why you want one. I would recommend the VSC because its not that much more then the other ones.

micro phantoms are fun, since they are like 10 inches long, but like every one else said, go with the vsc, you wont be disappointed. oh, and dont forget to get an oring spacer for it, so balls dont fall out the barrel.

you don't really need to get a revy. just get a gravity feed phantom and a $9 viewloder gravity feed. and if I were gonna get a phantom i'd get one with the 45 grip frame.

This is the one i'd get.

Get the VSC. It is well worth the extra $12(It is 12 isn't it?), plus it adds around $50 of resale value to it. I've been looking for a good phantom too.:)

GetRealPaintball wants $126 for them (almost identical to Rebel Ridge's price). Also, it looks like it can be ordered on getrealpainball.com, by going to the order set (yellow paintball at the bottom of the main page), and scrolling down until you see it.

awsome,
The tank looks like the size of a 9oz co2 or is it slightly bigger?

either way that'll give me the consistency i want plus the small size.

Dinger,
I built the black and yellow Phantom. Glad you like it. The frame was built from a block, not something I adapted.

I got mine in a trade back in '98 or so. and I love it.

I went all out with it tho, I have it in acid wash blue, but I have an SC body :

http://www.tyger.us/paintball/Tigers/GunFi03.jpg

http://www.tyger.us/pubimages/phreak/Phreak1.JPG

AND a direct feed body, this one is center feed for teh sake of balance.

http://www.tyger.us/paintball/boomer/562kboom1.jpg

Plus with a center feed, you can do some neat stuff.

http://www.tyger.us/pubimages/Phantom_Warp/PhreakWarp2.JPG

Yes, it does work like that...

Ok, so what works for *me*, Get the base Stock Class Phantom so oyu have a 12 gram adapter that's colored for the gun, buy a breech for direct feed). Now you can play Stock class or regular. I run mine on Nitrogen, it's just so cool to play with no velocity problems all day. I'm also using a Punishers Customs (http://www.punishers-customs.com/) barrel, he bored it for a Freak system (I already have the freak inserts, sorry.) But I'll use the stock barrel in decent weather. I hate rollouts.

That's my opinion. Besides, you can get the SC gun, and a DF breech, and you're basically set for all worlds.

Edit add : You might also try Siegecraft Paintball Products (http://www.siegecraft.us/) for your Phantom too. Hans is a pump player, he'll help you get a setup you want. Not saying any of the othe companies are bad, I've gotten stuff from Hans before, and he's always been a good guy. Not to meniton he's taken the reigns of the Skyball plan this year, thankfully. :)
