Gun collectors,

This is probably your only chance to ever buy one of these and own the rarest piece in AGD's museum. Retail price from FN now is about 850 bucks and I'm sure they are not happy about this one getting out in public.

Somehow I have a feeling my local field will be less than wild about the prospects of one of those on the field. On the other hand, a "less lethal" projectile will hopefully be a more effective deterrant to wipers than anything else. Isn't there some restriction on those, for-sale-to-LEOs-only?

it also uses liquid nitrogen

That thing would be very useful in breaking up Frat parties.

tom, if one of us buys it will you sell us ammo for it???

dansim
01-21-2004, 08:33 AM
can you just shoot regualr paintballs? and is there a velocity adjuster?

adam shannon
01-21-2004, 08:41 AM
it says you can shoot regular pb's, but that thing about having to freeze them so the high pressure doesnt break them is odd...doesnt that thing have LX???

but the main question is why shoot regular balls...we want the cool ones. OC, UV dye, neuro toxin...you know the ones agd makes for the cia and navy seals.

It uses a 13cu N2 tank, like is sold by ATS.
The ad says it runs off "liquid nitrogen" but this is something of a misnomer....it's just regular, albeit steel, HPA tank.

The problem is this....it's designed to fire rounds at about 400 FPS, for law enforcement use/crowd control. You'd be hard-pressed to get the velocity down enough to be useful on a paintball field.
States right on it "Use with extreme caution/Not intended for recreational use"

I am pretty sure you can fire regular, round paintballs with it, though. But you won't get the kind of accuracy and range you would with the finned bismuth crowd control rounds. And ammo capacity is obviously somewhat limited.

Neat to see, though. Thanks, Tom!

I figured word would get to you pretty darn quick, its too entertaining not to, and Im far from the first person to have seen it. Thats actually at least the second time its been up for bid, it went unbid last cycle. Its cool and all, but is it $500 cool?

Yeah, I'm the type, if I want it and it's under $1000 I'll take it. I always have $1000 in my "That looks cool" fund:)

You still have cooler stuff than me though. I mean damn, the computer setup in your place is something I can only dream to have...

Where would you buy the fin stabalized paintballs, and since they are 68 caliber could you muzzle load them on a regular paintball gun?

AGD
01-21-2004, 11:41 AM
Congrats Muz!

It will fire regular paintballs but at tremendous velocity. I can't sell you any of the ammo and I would save the ones it comes with as collectables.

I bought this as a collector item, I would never try it on the field. I'm even thinking I might not even try to fire a ball out of it:)

dansim
01-21-2004, 12:52 PM
not fire it? right i know youll be looking at it wondering..."hmm i wonder how hard does this shoot, and how loud:D "

The Deacon
01-21-2004, 01:10 PM
You'll get curious and shoot someone or have someone shoot you to see what it's like to be a protester. If not, you can try it out on me. :D

Muzikman
01-21-2004, 01:18 PM
I will dry fire it for sure...I just am not sure I want to chance busting a ball in the thing:)

Tom, are there any owners manuals you can get me a copy of? It states it comes with a safty manual, but looking at the picture it says that there are no user manuals. A exploded diagram would be cool to have too;)

RobAGD
01-21-2004, 02:22 PM
There are ways to make it play nice with normal paintballs :)

I have been trying to talk Tom into selling me one of the 303 standalones just teh body and drum, no N2 or valve but there were some major differances in how the valve handles air and how the unit retains the valve.

I am still shooting for having one of these for the next Shattnerball :)

Come get some you ghillie suit wearing fools ;)

The trick would be to talk Tom or PC into makeing some 3.5-4g projectiles for it :) Muhahahahha

Sniper this !

UThomas
01-21-2004, 03:15 PM
Anyone tried to shoot these out of a regular paintball gun? They could be fun with a pump gun in a scenario if they were considerably more accurate.

Muzikman
01-21-2004, 03:21 PM
They are HEAVY so to get any distance you would really have to crank up the velocity to get them to go any where. And with the bismuth tips, they would hurt like an SOB! Besides at over $1 a pop, would you want to try it:)

UThomas
01-21-2004, 03:33 PM
I'd buy 50 or whatever to play with at over $1 a piece. As long as they would be safe and considerably more accurate in a game. I'm guessing only the latter is true. More mass @ 300 fps would be dangerous...

SaS
01-21-2004, 03:40 PM
if a field would let ya use it, considering if you would want to try it, they would want you to crank the velocity way down because of that increased mass.

Wes Janson
01-21-2004, 08:08 PM
Actually, it's $280 USD for 150 rounds. That's a bit more than $1 per shot. More like $1.90 per round, with shipping. Add to it the fact that they're designed to incapacitate the target on impact, and I really don't see much market viability in paintball ;)

Wow with paint that expensive you would have to charge kids to let them shoot it for a few rounds.

Is that site really going to let you buy pepper filled amnunition? Ouch! Remind me to not participate in any violent protests.

fallout11
01-22-2004, 07:19 AM
Think of it this way.
You won't be doing much overshooting or bonus balling with that.
So it's probably good that your 1 shot (= 1 hit) is really going to be "noticible". =)

I'd rather be hit once really hard, than 6-8 times "regular" strength.

:/ Damn -nice... oh well - I already have an arragnement with a local police supplier to test fire and review one when I get out there some time. Should be fun!
