Problem with downloading fonts...

Well i keep downloading new fonts and i extract them to the right file but they just dont show up in any of my programs...like when i pick a font its just not on the list...any ideas?

i think instead of just copying them to c:\windows\fonts or whatever it is just extract them anywhere and either double click it or right click and click install.
