Hey guys, just got a new viking (used). It will gas up just fine, but when fired, it only pulses, not complete firing. Occasionally it will fire completely, but mostly it just pulses.

Any ideas on what to do?

1st put in new battery

2nd if that dosent work shoot it against your finger. If it bounces off really lightly the lpr is way too low

add alittle oil to the asa. if that doesnt work turn up the dwell.

Is your sidewinder turned up enough? Is your tank screwed in too tightly, or is the air fitting screwed into the sidewinder too tightly? Sounds like an airflow issue, or a solenoid issue, which is why someone mentioned the battery.

Remember, it is possible to screw a tank in too tightly. It is also possible, with a screw type on/off, to stop turning the knob once your hear the gun gas up, yet not turn it far enough to provide full airflow.

did you put in anew batt before u touched the lpr?

turn the dwell up.
worked for me.

my viking has the old noids:( and i have to run my dwell at like 18 before it starts to work correctly.

and i dont even dare to touch the LPR, i need a toolkit before i tinker with that.. (anyone wanna loan me theres for a week?)

I agree with Der Kaiser, the LPR is the LAST thing you want to screw with.

Check the air fitting at the bottom of your sidewinder. It should swivel freely. If not, loosen it up a bit. Having your air fitting screwed in until the sidewinder bottom won't spin will cause air blockage.

the air fitting was in fine. the sidewinder could swivle freely. I dont think that tank was screwed in to far. We did put a new battery in before we touched pressure system.

It will fire fine with the bolt out of the gun, but when you put the bolt in, it only pulses.

And i dont know how to change the dwell settings

new noids or old noids? was board?

if it IS was board:
turn gun off.
hold trigger
turn gun on
let go of trigger
press trigger to cycle through the menus, should blink red, green, yellow, then back to red
put it on red
hold trigger down til red light turns blank
let go of trigger
wait til it blinks slowly
count the red blinks, remember
it'll stop blinking, then press the trigger about 4 more than the number of blinks you've already counted
(so if you counted 13 blinks, press trigger 17 times)
then wait
led will flash red, green, yellow very quickly.
turn gun off
turn gun on
try

17 is a pretty high dwell if you have WAS and the newer noids. Try it on 12 before anything, and bump it up in increments of 1 or 2 ms, not 4!

well i said 4 just to see if it WAS the problem.
my viking has was and old noids and i have to run my dwell at 18. it sucks. i'm wondering if anything else is wrong with my viking besides the noids that make me need to run my dwell so high..

Gaaah, old board? Could be the board is just going "dumb" on it. The nelson's arent known for their reliability.

Sounds about right to me, I wouldn't worry about it. The older noids do work on a higher dwell.

p8ntbalr2004, I THINK you need a data cable to adjust the dwell on the older boards. I'm not positive though, as I have never owned a Viking with a Nelson board.
