I have damaged threads in a standard 1/8 (I think) hole. I can still screw in a fitting fairly well, but if I wanted to repair the threads how is the best way to do this? I have a friend with a 1/8 flat bottomed tap he is willing to try, but would just putting teflon tape on the threads of my fitting still work fine, or should I risk that?

Any help is appreciated.

as long as the threads arent completely worn down, and if you put teflon tape around the thing ur screwing in, and it doesnt leak, you should be fine. otherwise, take it to a hardware store or something like that and they will tap it for you. let you friend do it if you trust him alot.

See if you can find someone with a rethreading kit. Usually they have a threadchaser set that can clean up burred and scarred threads.
