"For any Autococker (tm) threaded marker. The Kaner Barrel system is always the best choice for your Autococker (tm), Matrix, Intimidator and New X-mag."

I think it's awesome that WGP decided to list the Xmag among the list of cocker threaded markers, but I do find it ironic that they called it the "New X mag", since it has been around longer than Matrices and the Ebladed cockers. This ad was on page 54 of the Feb/March 2004 issue of Splat magazine.

Anyone else see this? What do you think?

I think it's a smart move by WGP cause now people will see these barrels as multi gun barrels instead of cocker barrels.

Tom and Bud are friends, I think. I've seen pics of them shooting/holding each other's markers - it's cool that they can both respect and like each other in this world filled with competition and hate.

in todays low world of lawsuits and backstabbing paintball companies its only fitting that two of the only stand up guys left are good friends even though they should be business foes. throw in the tippmanns and palmers and youve got almost a complete list of the originals who are still around and still doing honorable business.

Wasn't aware they'd been out on the open market that long. The earliest Matrix review on PBreview.com was from 2001, and I doubt that it took 3 years before someone wrote a review on one, given the popularity.

It's official release was at the 2000 world cup.

Very true due to the fact that obviously cocker's started that threading. By listing all those different "high" end markers it gets the communication out that it fits more then just cockers.

though they are the hot stuff now, matrices didn't take off untill too recently. Airtech Industries made the first matrix waaaay back in the day. They got popular when Gen E picked up the owning rights to the matrix.

Yeah if you want to consider CnC's as the only "Xmags". But the Emag Extreem, which was essentially the same thing (i.e., cocker threaded, aluminum body, etc.) has been around for a couple of years.

does anyone actually own the other verson of the x-mag? the blocky version? if i could find one i would get that....since everyone chooses the c and c version the block may be a rare marker someday.

The non C&C version is basically a Euro/ADGE exclusive. It's not that they are "rare",there just "rare" to make the trip way over here. There are a few bodies floating around here, but most people prefer the C&C.
