Dear AO Members,

Some friends of mine (yes, they own mags) have gotten into a debate about how to pronounce "ULE". So, I go to the place where all the wise men and smart people are, with the exception of me, to ask "How do you pronounce ULE?"

Do you just say each letter?
Or do you say "Ooh-Lee"?

Thanks,

i say each letter seperate. Those of you that say 'youll' for ULE are probably the same ones that say 'wass' for WAS

I say wass for WAS.. But I say ULE as U-L-E..

WAS sounds retarded as an acronym.. ULE sounds retarded as a full word..

I always ask people why they pronounce it 'wass'. They say that's what it is... I ask them if they know how to spell the word 'was', and how the pronounce it. They just keep saying 'wass' anyways, which IMO, sounds much weirder than WAS.

I say "youll" or "yule". I just think U-L-E sounds funky when describing a Mag.

ex: "Its a U-L-E x valved mag" Now that statement might make you sound like a drunk guy learning the alphabet for the first time.

thers's my $.02.

I say Yoolee. Thats pretty much pronouncing every letter, but its a word :)

SCUBA is an acronym, and you dont say S-C-U-B-A, so all you people saying you can't say an acronym as a word, just pipe down :)

yea but funny thing is that the guys in Fire and safety use SCBA's. No underwater in thiers and they pronounce every single letter. Ess Cee Bea Ay. Like that.

We did this thing before with the ULE didn't we? I pronounce each letter. U L E .

I say U-L-E also.'You Lee' or what ever, doesn't sound like anything I want done to my marker.:)

I think if you know what it actually stands for you say U-L-E.And MOST who don't,think its some kind of word.

Not counting for terminally lazy.;)

As for SCUBA,it's simply to long otherwise. And WAS is the same as ULE,most people don't know what W.A.S stands for anyway, for that matter, there are many who don't even know WAS and Equalizer mean the same thing.

Ultra Light Engineering. So? Many acronyms are pronounced as single words!

I'm at work waiting for a server to finish initializing it's drive array right now. This would be a RAID array, not an R, A, I, D array. I installed RAM in the computer, not R, A, M. ;)

And for the record, I pronounce each letter, U, L, E, it doesn't sound right as a single word ... kinda like CPU? Would that be kapoo?

(EDIT)

Oh, and no matter how it's pronounced, I still call it Too Damn Expensive. ;)
