Cool drop forward I built

[BradAGD]

A buddy has a Sov1 that he's a theme gun with. Soon it will be anodized British racing green and have a pair of British flag grips from Frymarker...but for now, a Jag hood ornament for the drop. The bottom is dovetailed for the CP on/off and a set screw holds it on, just like normal drops. Sorry for the horrid pics! I'll get some more later.

My buddy, Jon, bought the hood ornament off of Ebay and had me hack it up. Since they are cast aluminum, I don't know how sturdy it will be though. It was a complete pain to hold in the mill but it came out pretty well. Count on about $30 to machine another one if you send me the parts.

Dude, that completely rocks. Even better is the whole Brit theme, with the BRG and flags.

However, the ornament isn't even cast aluminum- it's "pot metal", meaning it has a lot of zinc, tin and probably copper. It's definitely not going to be as strong as cast aluminum, and nowhere near as strong as billet.

Now, you've got some extra bulk there, so it ought to be okay, just tell the owner to be careful when he's diving into bunkers. :D

Some CNC shop definitely needs to tool up some of those in billet...

I like it except it's facing the wrong way, it would be nice if it could face toward your opponent. Otherwise that is really neat!

Ya can't mango. The head of the Cat would end up being milled away and be leaning downward. Note the Dove tail he had to add to the base to lock it into the ASA?

Now if you recast it with some kinda block of extra meat up there on that head maybe you could.

But taking a stock Jaguar emblem and doing it, then what Brad did, was the only way you could do it.

Agreed. Someone could recast it with a milling block up top of the Jaguars head though? Although I suspect Ford would be all over you if you did it a bunch. Thier corporate guys got nothing better to do! :(

Yeah, I think Ford and Jag would get a little pissy if you started making a big run of these. Just change it some and call it a something else. I do like the idea of making a lion instead of a jaguar...that would be cool.

I'm glad that all of you like the drop. And no i did not steal it. :D The Sov started out black chrome and orange, classic harley davidson but then Brad pointed out that it was a British Gun that i was turning in to an American Made Motorcycle Maker. So he said the magic word, "Jaguar". I went to e-bay and found a hood ornament and bid, and won. I left it to Brad and he hacked it up and there we go! I also found out that they made, Jaguar, in the early 90's a Jaguar Sovereign, so now i'm making a Sovereign Jaguar. I will get Brad to post pics when i get the grips and anno done. Again thanks.

I worked on the project to make the Huge 'Leapers' (as the ornament is called) into Auto Show back boards.

I expect Jaguar would get pissy if we started full production though. :p :p

Good luck. The new Rolls Phantom has a retracting hood ornament to stop urban youths just like you!:p Turn the car off and it retracts into the grill. On again and she emerges from her hiding spot. Very cool to see in person!:D
