In a car, 10 in a parking lot. On a go-kart or dirtbike, maybe 60-70.

160 on my a friend's R1. It had more in it, but I was scared as crap; I've seen what happens when a bike blows a tire at that speed.

well my fastest in a plane is still only 184mph (160 kts) :(

In a car me driving, I made it hit 110 once (this is what I voted).

With someone else driving, I think it was almost 120.

160 is pretty damn fast on a bike considering if you crashed all that would be left of you is a bloody smear on the road.

When I did my own personal speed run, I hit D. I'm not trying to be funny, the speedometer only went to 85, and the needle ended up pointing to (D)rive on the dash (the car was a 1977 Olds Omega with a Chevy 305 and a column mounted shifter for the automatic tranny).

On a bike,an "Indicated" 205,which is probably not super accurate.

In a car,230 in a Slingshot(old skool front engine dragster).

125-130 indicated...

the freeways in Oklahoma are fun, since its a straight line to the horizon with a blur of fields to either side.

I think my car coulda gone faster, by my tires aren't rated for it and were beginning to feel funny.

I made it from Austin Tx, to Kansas City in under 9 hours...

Average speed through OK was over 110... going 70 after that feels like you could get out and walk faster.

if the car is desgined correctly it wont. Infact you can drive a miata with the top down on the freeway, while raining, and not get wet.

If it's a newer FI car, the speed limited is computer conrtolled. Only way around it is to reprogram the PROM.

you can very easily take that rev limiter off, that is what stops the engine from turning too many rpms. powertech or powerchip makes a drop in chip you can buy that takes this off and adds a bit of power also. they also sell stand alone programming devices that allow you to remove the limiter also as well as mess with more advanced things.

Zumina
02-12-2004, 04:30 PM
it's not a rev limiter, unless you were approaching redline at 98. The speedo is computer controlled, and when it returns a designated reading, the computer cuts off fuel to the engine.

I don't really know. When I was a kid I did ALL of the 150 mph speedometer in my V8 Charger. But who knows how accurate it was. I don't even remember if it had the stock diameter tires. ;)

It did take both lanes on the freeway to make the turn. ;)

hye wicked ways here's your answer
my dad was tellign me about this
they program the car computerly(word?) and that's how they cotnrol it, like soembody said earlier.
The only possible way is to get a number that woudl program it to be like a cop car, thus being illegal and hard to get.

I've personally driven 105 in my Lexus ES300 (not really mine, its my dads, but I drive my brothers and I to school, so I use it 20x as much as him).

While out in California I stayed with my dad's boss. He's a day trader and collects cars in his free time. On a track we reached 150 in his Modena and 190 in his McLaren F1. :D (this guy is crazy, he's 32, owns 16 cars, 2 houses (hamptons and SF heights) goes through 1.2 million a month (and makes enough to balance that) and guess what ladies... isn't married and doesn't have a girlfriend. (oh ya, and he is an ******* to be around when he is working, but outside of that he is pretty cool))

Dude, how can you know that? Your speedometer only goes to 85!!!!!!!!

I went about 105 on the way back from NorCal vs SoCal, but this was in a '95 Mitsubishi Montero, not exactly racing material.

Me and ZAust were racing (before I went over 100) at like 90, and every time he caught up I'd use OD Off to speed ahead (OD=Overdrive=Ghetto NOS, but not really :D ) and then we just got going ridiculously fast (for our crappy cars) so I slowed down.

Man, you shouldn't be allowed to drive faster than your speedometer allows!

tach only goes to 120, but fuel cut off is 138, and i hit it. the neon gets wheel shakes at like 73, and my hands got real numb so i had to pull over for a bit lol. no wing on it eaither, and i could feel the back of the car gettng pushed around from wind, it was realy cool. not to bad for being stock at the time, especially being as it was still pulling just a tad. cant wait to get money for the mopar or the af/x race comp, no speed limiter.:D

I have driven as fast as 128 in my Uncle's Porsche 944. However, riding with someone, I have gone 173 mph in an extremely modernized Mustang Fastback(By modernized I mean it had DFI, Twin Turbos, completely digital dash(it even had a screen saver if the car was in park for more than a minute). Regardless, I hope to move this number up beyond 200 when I finally earn my fortune(and I will earn it) and can buy and customize to hell and back, a 2005 Mustang GT V8.
