Hey all,

A few of you have met my son Nick. He is in the Iowa National Guard. He is being transfered to another unit in IA, and being activated to go to Afghanistan. I am traveling to Iowa tomorrow morning to visit with him before he leaves for the transfer on Sunday.

He will be gone 15-18 months for training, 12 months overseas, and his debriefing/counseling afterwards. This is the first time I have been truely worried about him, and is un-nerving.

Myself, my family, and friends are praying not only for nick, but for all of the soldiers over there to come back safe. Doobie, Army, Devildog, and several others are still in our prayers to come home safe.

I just wanted to let you all know that there is another large group of soldiers going over there, and will need our support and prayers.

~Gary

Ok, I'm back from visiting him before he leaves.

He begins his transfer to the new unit tomorrow (sunday). He is going to train with them for 2 weeks, to get aclimated to the new unit, then off for a week. After that, his unit is activated to active-duty, and ships out to his training/mobilization center. That is still in the works.
