I stumbled across this interesting take on a potential "future" paintball mask.

Description (http://www.fudalik.com/images/mask/communicate.html)

It was designed by Mr. Keith Fudalik as a senior design project for college (he was an industrial design student).

The mesh panels are made of the same heavy plastic mesh used in office chairs (like the one I'm sitting in).

It is obviously very light weight and breathes very well.
Imagine the bounces you'd get off the panels!
The lens is a single piece bug-eye type, with locking tabs, similar to the V-force masks, but smaller and much more rounded.

Interesting concept, just thought I'd share....

You would look like the guy off Jeepers Greepers but not really a bad idea. The paint would probably go threw that thing when u got shot.

paint in mouth = so not kool

the panel design is good, and my god, the visibility!

Looks pretty ugly, but whatever tickles your fancy.

True enough!
But I don't get hit in the mouth much. Your mileage may vary.
I always end up with paint in the mouth from mouth hits, anyway (Vforce Morph).

It certainly would be very cool to wear for long periods, like in scenario ball.

They already had something along this vein. PMI came out with a mask that used JT OTG goggles and used a wire mesh for the rest of the mask.

So, nothing new here except you end up looking like Mer-Man of He-Man fame.

Yes, and I've seen wire mesh goggles, back in the day.

Still, maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like wearing a big block of perforated rubber on my head for hours on end.

Interesting design, at any rate.

That's where innovation comes from.

I'm a huge fan. Between the visibility and the breathability, how could you not be. I could care less what it looks like (which is not bad IMHO). But then you're talking to a guy who wears a a top from a haloween ninja costume to play paintball. Why? Becuase it breaths so well.

I want that mask something fierce.

Edit:
I just sent him an E-Mail offering to buy them. I also told him about the thread and invited him here. After all, he's a mag user.

I did likewise earlier this afternoon.
Be interesting to see what becomes of it.

Like you, I could care less how it looks, it's all about how it works that matters to me.

...but will that mesh hold up? Id want to see some tests on how it would hold up after repeated shots before id spend any money on it.

An i think its kinda ugly. But the possibility of bounces keeps me interested.

just my opinion.

Can we see more info?

If he'll sell me one, or tell me how I can get one made, I'll do a full review here on how it works out.

It wouldd make a perfect mask for scenario/rec/woodsball....
you don't get shot much, and you have to wear the mask a long time, so protection and bounce is much less important than visibility and comfort.

But I'm guessing it was a one shot deal for senior design.
Only one ever made.
I had to do a similar project when I graduated engineering school.
