Here is our very own Z-Man after a gigantic game, where it was him against about 100 rec players and could only get out by 2 direct lens shots. Pic- http://home.comcast.net/~bmillin/zman2.jpg:p

Dear god, that's a sick amount of paint, kudos to him for not giving up to getting constantly pelted with possibly 500+ balls.

Well actually, the mission was called "protect the president," and Z-man and about 5 other guys were tasked with escorting a single man accross the fields to a certain zone. The only way they would be taken out was two lens shots. They failed miserably, but I think its because there werent enough body guards. Z-man ended up in an enclosure that was netting on three sides, so he could stick his gun out and shoot while protecting the rest of his body. The spray he got while in there, in addition to the shots he took running around before that, created the mess you see.

Kudos to Z-man for holding out even after it was plainly obvious the situation was unwinnable.

I don't know if we have a picture of this, but when Z-man took off his jersey, there must have been 100 welts all over his body. I wonder how many of us would have stayed in and kept fighting? I'm just glad he's on our side!

Yes it was a dumb thing to do thinking about it now. I did one of those dumb kid things where you psyche yourself into a mentality. I was so in this mode that I was quite certain that 6 players who could be eliminated only by 2 shots the goggles, could take on and defeat over 60 people who got to set up before the game.

What ruined us were those DANG screen enclosures. Netting on all sides so you can see and not get hit with holes to shoot though. Unless we walked up to the bunker (while they emptied the hopper on you), pulled back the netting (while they point-blancked you) and popped them 3-4 times (while they keep shooting you because... because people act that way when they are about to be executed), you COULD NOT hit them.

After taking out 2 of those kinds of screens, it started hurting. I had to walk with my back to the bunker, point the gun backwards and just spray and pray till the people ran away or got hit.

I think went he ref called for ALL 60 players to swarm us that things got a little grim. Even behind that shelter, I soon became so coated with pain that I could not see a thing (how I longed for Tear offs then  ).

I had to be lead off the field like an old blind man, which is basically what I was. Yes, this evening, surveying the damage, I do look like a strange lab experiment with a potpourri of nice little red welts, large red/purple/black areas, and circular slices all over me... Guess it's time to replace the lenses....

as one of the fellow "bodyguards" along with ERut,ZAust, and Cable, i cannot begin to express the horror i witnessed when zak started his "netted bunker clearing". there were well over 60 people shooting at us at the end. it looked like a cavalry charge coming over the hill.oh well...pain is temporary, welts heal, and chicks dig scars.

If I did not have a pit crew of 3 people (LPB, Aegis, & Carbon) ALL cleaning that thing with me, I never would have made it to my tourney the next day!

That poor thing too so many hits and spray that it stopped working in E-Mode and Hybrid mode. Fortunatly it was not permanent. Thank goodness for the fail safe.

If you held your arm over your face, while shooting (ok, partially covering), wouldn't that have made you less liable to die?

that method was used...you should see z's forearms. ERut had a good idea when he turned his hopper sideways and peeked from behind it. good google coverage.

also walking backwards and shooting over the sholder worked. That was a bit depatable as it could be called blindfire. I considered it justified in the context of the situation

Hey Eatem, just out of curiosity, what happend to you, Zaust, and Erut during this battle??

Eatem Alive
02-23-2004, 07:58 PM
aside from me getting shot in the back of the head at point blank, we were getting pelted also...but not like zak. i lost track of ZAust, but ERut and i hooked up near the end and just sprayed and prayed into a HUGE group coming at us. each one of had no less that 20 elims that game. it was crazy. those nimrods would not call themselves out, that was our downfall aside from being to few, the "dead" players played on and the refs didn't care. it was all in fun...i guess. right zak?

I think it was pride and overconfidence on my part and primal urge on the rest of the group. I recall several times I charged into one of those fortress bunkers that looked more like an outhouse than a simple wall. I could see the player madly unloading on me, knowing they could not hit me, and watching them try their very best to squeeze into some crack as I moved in on them. Even after I put 2-3 rounds into them, they did not stop shooting often. It's much like some primal fear or something, logic is stripped away by the one urge: "get that guy coming at me the HECK away from me!"

Though I do love all the attention I got from this, I do think that it was not a good idea. Yes, I could have called myself out, but being male, that would not be manly; my decision. But too often that scene mentioned above happened because of those invincible bunkers. How do you think I lasted so long? ;)

yes, that was the color of the sfl before the game. afterwards, it was simply the rainbow warrior emag.

i started out on the left side of the field, then traveled down into the valley and back up to teh right side. there i got into a firefight with what must have been at least 8 guys, all behind the same bunker. i would keep shooting guys, and they would eaither wipe or call themlselves. lo and behold, another head would pop out. it was a bit aggravating. but the game was insane fun besides that, and i would do it again in a heartbeat.

So what about the 60 rec ballers, could they be shot out or what?

Eatem Alive
02-24-2004, 10:18 AM
if the "president" shot them, they too would become "bodyguards", but if the bodyguards shot them anywhere, the were "supposed" to be out. that didn't happen. by the way, there were way more that sixty.
