After you turn the velocity up to about 250fps I herd the valve leaks on mags... this true?

thats just a myth, it doesnt leak. what really happens is it blows up and sends steel shrapnel up to 50 feet away.

Mags have no problems with velocities up to 300 fps, if they have a good reg seat, and are properly maintenanced.

ya its a 1% survival rate... poor bastards. when will they learn.

thats sarcasm the valve doesnt leak unless ur marker has problems, and most mags dont have problems unless your a moron and tried to tinker.

Ummm, I think you need to stop listening to whomever feeds you info :) They work fine at 250, 285, 300, etc...

other day i had a problem actually
my mag wouldnt shoot below 350 fps also hitting the low 400 fps. didnt chop either thick shells!
i had to use my tippmann that day! :(
p.s.
i would post this in tech but my X valve comes this week

That comment is saying like all cockers are accurate, and angels are the fastest guns ever, and world peace is possible(stole from simpsons). Some older mags have older reg pistons which can't handle the pressures and start to vent air so you dont blow out your reg and seals. My old rt did this when I installed lvl 10, got a new one and it worked fine.

My mag was up to 425, didn't chrono that day and was playing renegade at a friends house, *whistles innocently* my friend now has a scar on his spine from where i bunkered him, Now i chrono every time i change the velocity

well...this happend to me and it only sent sharpnel about 20 feet. and the spring flew into my eye...

but this was because i tried to take the valve out when there was still gas in it (i couldn't get the gas out)

Thats sad man....

Don't they self-regulate tho, if you set the velocity too high they start leaking out of the back, it's part of the design.

the older reg pistons in some of the valves vent before the pressure that LX needs to cycle, thus causing them to leak out the back

other than that, its just another stupid mag myth

I've shot mine at 350 without leaking. Didnt break a ball either.

You should chrono more often than that. Even if you don't touch the velocity adjuster, your velocity can fluctuate for other reasons (paint, gas, etc.). :)

I voluntarily chrono no fewer than three times a day and frequently get checked on-field with a handheld.

Wow man that sounds kind a scarey, when it comes to velocity some refs gets pissed.

maybe you heard him wrong mags dont like to work at lower velocities, well mine didnt anything below 240 and i was screwed

but yeah when you go above 250 watch out, cause last time i did it i caught the on/off pin right in my lip, i think i might actually leave it there it looks cool;)

with my classic valve my mag wouldnt shoot under 250

and who else had the on/off pin shoot out at them and scatter around the living room?

Morally0Confused

mine still wont go below 350 no matter what i do

MorallyOconfused,

Try swapping down to the cut or small spring. That should take care of your problem.

WC Keep

I did that with my classic when I was running it on CO2. I pulled the bottle and everything but it wouldn't degas. Unfortunately I was out in the woods, and the whole on/off assembly disappeared into the forest. Luckily there was nobody to get hit with it.
:(

As long as we're getting into little anecdotes about mags doing funny things...last time I played outdoor the pressure release thingy that vents through the velocity adjuster opened up when I was chronoing...while my allen wrench was in there. It shot over my right shoulder and was lost forever in the forest. RIP allen wrench :(
