stick with the onepiece barrels...all i hear about kits are bad things, what can go wrong with a one piece? if i was to get a kit, i would get the longbow. but thats way over $100. but if ur set on a kit, i would go with the sceptor

If you go used you can find a 3 or 4 piece scepter, amazing barrel.

Or go one piece, CP makes good barrels

www.topchoicepaintball.com sceptre kit. The 3 bores are on sale right now for $115. IT IS WORTH IT!

You won't find one used. I have never seen somebody who was willing to part with thiers.

Hey man,

How are you liking the Omen? I'd recommend the MatchStik barrel kit from MacDev

Don't forget the equation barrels. Switch or bizerk. Affordable and you get many choices.
They are loud is all.

Yea... the J&J edge is a pretty good deal for 115 shipped.... Nice hard shell case with it and four bores and a choice of tip length. Shoots pretty darn good.

I have a Scepter I like pretty darn well too. A bit more money for the whole five bore kit but woth the extra. Adding the two other bores later will cost you a bit more down the line if you chose too. But you could be pretty satisfied with three. If thats price is true quoted above I would say grab it.

Added on edit: no, that link says 135... plus shipping. And for 170 Something you can get all five bores from them. Better recheck your link.

you gun whore.

I've owned the J&J Edge, SP Freak, and Empire kits... 2 outta 3 ain't bad, eh guys?

honestly, though. skip the Freak. Empire's are pretty nice, as you already know... J&J's are SERIOUSLY good shootin' barrels though. Lemme know what ya end up with.

I dunno, I like my freak kits. Shoot very well for me, and easily interchangeable with the different backs to my 3 different kinds of markers.

There are some pretty nice raw barrels on ebay. They look like the old dye aluminum barrels. They are $10 a piece and are pretty good quality. I bought 1 already. I am going to buy several, and hone them to different sizes and then send them to be anodized. This way you can match your paint to barrel but not have the problems with a 2 piece. They come in 10" and 12".

The Kaner kits look decent too if you have cocker threads. I have seen them sell for as low as $99 at paintballgateway.com. (on sale)

For me the Freak kit is the best one since it has allot of diferent bores and if u get another gun with diferent threads u just have to buy a new freak back.

Well that link takes me to the kit for $129.95 not $99.... Link here for that one (http://www.paintballgateway.com/wgpkabasy.html)

...but however they are giving free shipping 2 day too! And that kit has three tips. If you wanted that then thats a plus but if not then its just more stuff to haul around. And the J&J only has one tip but a better case in a hard shell with egg crate foam lining. Where as the Kaner is just sort of a plastic organizer pop in thing. Both of those kits feature similar things. Two piece set ups with four control bores. So its a trade off. Paintball Discounters had the J&J so check them for that price.

Link to J&J edge from PBD here (http://www.paintball-discounters.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_prodid=1117&p_catid=70&sid=5bW2dL0@@Cb64nu-26104271728.9e). Be sure to note the free UPS ground shipping option in check out. Any order over $100 and this would qualify.

All of the insert systems give you the ability to change backs by the way. The Scepter is one of them. And its a bit better made than that Freak is. I have owned two Freaks in the past and liked them very well. But do not own them any more and use the Scepter. Love it. But I also have a J&J Edge kit as well.

If you REALLY want an Equation... I'm selling a really nice one for $120 shipped...

regarding the kaner barrel kit. i have one and it's great. i was lucky enough to order it when paintball gateway was selling them for $99. the barrels are light and shoot rather well. my only complaint, and this has been mentioned before, is the "case" they come in. it is rather cheap but it does the job so i'm not complaining too much.

Where I live it is way humid in the summer...balls swell:rolleyes: and from what I understand a 1 pce barrel can not handel that

Get a .689. You realize im in ARKANSAS right? Not to cool here. Trust me, I think that if a person says they can tell a difference, they are lying, or the other is to small/big to the extreme.

They didn't mean too. Its what they remembered paying or indeed was what they paid on sale or something. I just always check em out myself. So while I was doing that I just went ahead and copied and pasted the links for ya is all. No problem and your welcome. Good luck with your choice. Any of them are fine barrels.

Buy a CP 2 piece and get some backs over time. I ordered mine straight from CP for $60 and still had enough money to get a diff length tip and another bore. On top of being inexpensive, they are excellent barrels as well.

cphilip,

I thought the same thing as you about the price of the Scepter kit at topchoice but if you actually put it in your cart you are only charged $115 plus shipping. It must be on sale.

That kaner kit was indeed on sale. You have to check the site often because their prices change almost daily. If you watch them closely, you can get some really good deals.
