there isnt a limit....whats wrong with spending money on paintball crap?

if i have a job, and dont have to spend money on things what difference does it make if my gun costs 500 bucks or 1500 bucks?

the only way you can spend too much is if you put yourself in debt.

I have spent a hair over $2k on my initial setup.....

Money isn't a factor if you play paintball every weekend of the year. In the end, whatever marker that works best for you as well as all the accessories (pods, apperal, packs, gogs, etc), whatever, if it makes the sport more enjoyable for *YOU*, then money isn't a factor.

A complete JT outfit (pants, jerseys, gloves, goggles, and harness/pods) runs between $300 - $400, and that's not counting their branded cleats (Reebok's from Payless for $10). A Dye branded outfit of the 2004 line would run over $500.

Heck, I've got more invested in my Nitro Duck and assortment of barrels then I've got in my MiniMag itself!

ULE RT: $475 - $500
Dynaflow: $250
12v Revvy: $25
Mission Apex Roller Hockey Pants: $40
THOR MX jersey: Free (christmas gift)
Cleats: $15 at Sports Authority, and they pull double duty for lacrosse.
Pack: Using a cheap $25 now, I need a real one.
Pods: Got a bunch for $10 off ebay
VForce Morph: $65

Add in the little crap and you're around $900 for my main setup. Not too bad.

I try not to count all my other guns and gear though :) Add all those in and you're up to a few thousand.

just remeber that you will spend way more on paint than gear.

soooo buy what you like! I think any gun over about 7-800 is purley cosmetics and *bling* factor...

bingo! spend what ever you're comfortable with. my primary (still looking for a secondary) consists of....

WGP Outkast- $500
Worrblade- $400
Micro Rock- $50
Sidewinder- $90
Nexus ram w/QEVS- $80
Eclipse DART bolt- $50
SLICK Back Block- $35
Crossfire 70/45- $200
Halo- $115

So just a little over $1500, not including goggles, jersey, shoes, pants, pack, etc. The scary thing is that paintball is still cheaper than my last hobby......road racing. you wanna talk about burning through money? I've seen guys lay down almost a grand for a nice set of R-compounds and toast them in one day at the streets of willow.

paintball has had other benifits. beside being cheaper i also don't have to worry about slamming into a concrete wall at 100+ when i screw up.:D

2k2 half milled Viking- $550 used

total- thats like under $1k...and a real nice set up if I do say so myself

It depends on the person really, and how long u have played. I have played for about a year, started with a spyder flash, then now tribal mephisto, and they totaled about 1.4k, and to me that seems like way tooo much. So I've been tosing up the idea of selling everything and getting a nice pump, probly a nice phantom. ANd this will let me play alot more, get a car,and pay for the insurance.

I voted for over 1000$
Not that I can honestly justify the expense, but I have well over that in any one of my markers and equipment.
I certainly have spent money in worse ways , and had nothing to show for it when it was over.....ever been to a nude lounge?

I have about 2000 into my primary setup. An XMag and accessories. Worth every penny too.

paint magnet
03-05-2004, 10:23 PM
I would say 3.5 grand is too much, if I had a job. But seeing as how I don't, I just try not to keep count and put pretty much every penny I can scrape together towards paintball...right now it has netted me:

Unmilled, blind, Nelson board DD Viking #VK00582 w/ MAC 'noid and blade trigger, old style Stickies and a Mac Dev (new style) Max Attack 68/45 w/ on/off adapter and standardized fill nipple, generic drop, X board revvie, 14" Javelin and a 12" .695 SP AA (hey, it came with the gun in a trade, and I would have burned it if it wasn't the only barrel I had at the time)

I wear Dye Core pants I got for Christmas 2 years ago, a DYE 02 Core jersey signed by lots of AO members including Cphil, AGD, Cphillip's wife, Clare...some old Vans held together with duck tape and whatever else I can find. I recently picked up a pair of Raven Havoc X pants for 40 bucks and a BE Eliminator jersey off PBGear. That said, I'm too lazy to add all of this up :D

But if you're concerned about money (or if I was to do it all over again), here's what I'd do:

AGD X RTP - 530 (ULT, ULE, Y grip)

Barrel kit - 150 (Scepter, Kaner, assortment of lower-end barrels)

Tank & accessories (drop, cradle, covers) - 200-300 (Crossfire 72/45 peanut, Nitro Duck screw ins, Centerflag Hyperflows)

Loader - 50-100 (Empire Re:Loader, Ricochet Apache)

Clothing - Dye C4 pants, AO jersey, Redz/Dye/JT pads, Raven gloves

Mask- whatever fits you best, pref. VForce PROFiler, JT Axiom FX10, JT Proteus

I can't really say there is a limit. Personally, I'd just want a Dallara bodied logic vert frame mag w/ x-valve, 16" Ultralight, PMI 68/5000, Thor, Rogueneck, and a eggy.

MrWallen
03-05-2004, 10:58 PM
Numbers on that list definately don't go high enough, I mean I have more than 1k put into my stock mag setup (counting mask, jersey, etc).

Everybody should spend whatever they can afford without going in debt. If you only have a couple hundred dollars (under 400-500) for all your equipment then buy a cheaper but reliable gun like a Tippmann.
As long as your playing it doesn't matter. :D

Minimag
retro valve
intelliframe
J&J 2 piece professional barrel
lvl 10
