View Full Version : What rope thickness is best for hanging?

Well we have this argument about who has a better noose, and seeing as how they were identically constructed its come down to who has the better rope.

come on guys vot for 3/4th inch its soo much better
and garunteed not to break!

1/2 inch, *duh* I mean it's been a good while since I've hanged anybody, but that seemed to do the trick just a couple years ago...

PyRo

He has lousy rope, I have the good climbing stuff. I bet my 1/2in rope could hold more than his lousy 3/4in stuff could. My rope also has a smoother surface and will ensure that it is tighter. His rope also has a large surface area which may mean combined with its high friction it may never tighten enough to actually do its job.

Be cool, vote 1/2in.

I am going to have to say 1"cause you need that thickness to get a knot big enough to separate the skull its self from the spinal column inorder to get an effective hanging otherwise you risk suffication and that just aint pretty.

Mr.mike
03-12-2004, 04:19 PM
bah! dont give me that climbing rope is smoother stuff! do you want your victim going hey this is pretty nice, i didnt think so you want it to hurt and cut into their neck!
vote for the 3/4 rugged rope!

I've gotta go with the 1/2" and Long Drop method. Make sure you have the knot just behind the left ear so it snaps the neck- immediately knocks the person out and suffocation finishes them. no pain no mess.

PyRo

But the more painfull the better :)
Also the thicker the rope, the more surface area, the less the impact, so a thinner rope would be better for seperation. I guess if you really want we could throw him from an airplane with about 400 ft of rope :)

Its not nicer, it just ensures death :) If you really want I will put nails through it :)

I thought the idea of the noose knot was to be placed in such a way that it broke neck from the fall by the neck snapping into the knot and not to strangle...

Not that I have ever looked into it...

Phills 14,000th post was discussing the best way to hang someone. Sweet :)
But stangulation is so much more satisfying when your mad.

I voted for 1". That way, you can hang some ginormously fatgantic dude without it breaking and it still works for little dudes, too.

Wasnt it on Blazing Saddles that the executioner had a rope rack (like a tie rack) with different sizes so the prisoner could select his preference? I seem to remember that from some movie...

i prefer to hang my victims with barbwire :D

Mr.mike

experts say that 3/4th in. is better cause you need that extra 1/4 in case you want to burn the person while lynching them
and thats really cool!
vote 3/4ths!

Wasn't that Robin Hood Men In Tights where they went around picking the right sized noose?

And the 1/2in stuff I have can hold about a ton with no problems. My thinner high quality stuff will hold more then his lousy thicker stuff. Plus the executioner doesn't get a bad rope burn.

And, mine is red and black, thats just plain cool.

the awesomeness wouldnt happen to pyro under a second name, would it;)

I must admit, if I were to be hanged, with the choice of rope, I would look for something in Scarlet. Maybe a nice Burgandy...:p

Ill stick with my rock climbing rope...if you dont snap your neck the first time then maybe on one of the next bounces...

:p

PyRo

But barbwire will just get cought up in itself, and it won't do any killing.

Im with Pyro.

1/2 inch should do the job just fine. That stuff is definately strong enough to hold up a person too.

i prefer the use of a 12 gauge shotgun...but if the situations all wrong id probably just use my shoelaces...theyre pretty strong you know, and easily concealable.

and im guessing that some of you guys may like this game after reading this thread... http://www.goyk.com/flash.asp?path=54

i think the smallest guage rope would do the most ripping and destruction of necks due to the smaller surface area that they will have on the impact when they get pushed off the tree branch they were sitting on, thats just me tho.

This game is demented but yet fun. I voted 1 inch for the fact it needs to be thick to hang a fat dude. Last thing you want is your rope breaking and the guy running away.

Morally0Confused

you tie him up incase the rope breaks DUH!
always learn from your mistakes!

Have you ever seen someone who weighs more than 500lbs try to run? I think I could keep up :)

Just make sure there isn't food around. We all know how fat people can be at All you Can eat buffets.
