theres some startling information in this article, and this looks like a salvation for paintball, and a beginning for paintball as a BIG TIME sport.

But your missing representation from the 800 pound gorilla-NPS.

Also, Jim Drew is involved and you know that means nothing good could come from it except maybe a sanctioning board with a rule book that has AI!;)

Well it might be a positive step but will it have any impact?

ASTM standards have been in place and have been enforced, and bi-annual meetings have been taking place.

I dont believe they have been enforced and the meetings are a joke. According to James Olshefski at A.S.T.M. there are 41 people from the industry on an advisory committee to recommend what safety standards should be followed. One Mr. Robbert Orr is the Chairman of that committee.

If they were inforced we would have markers that meet this standard which is straight from the A.S.T.M. Standards which were submitted and agreed on by the 41 people on the committee

3.1.20 semi-automatic mode marker—a semi-automatic
marker discharges one time with each trigger cycle. Markers
that “store” the number of trigger pulls and discharge more
than one paintball at some point do not meet this definition. Markers that operate in any other discharge mode(s) do not
meet this definition.

Can you say Bounce

The committee’s purpose will not be to hurt feelings, nor to regulate, but rather give advice to manufacturers

They dont follow A.S.T.M. Standards. What will be different. A.S.T.M. is voluntary not mandatory

Rodd Perry (Smart Parts) supports the World Paintball Committee. He believes that the organization has been deeply needed. His expertise has led him to a deep concern regarding cylinders and their handling.

Ya ok Then why are tanks mounted to the marker by the reg?
Bad idea. Seems if they would have listened to someone way back some accidents might not have happened.

AGDs answer a fail safe on the reg in case it breaks off.

No other industry in the world uses inline threads the way we do because of this very problem. They all use some form of 90 degree fitting. Why we do I will not get into because I have vented enough in other threads today.

Detect switch noise and queue a shot or two? By definition that's firing more times that you pull the trigger, and therefore by current NPPL standards it's a "cheater"- and dozens of guns have those features right out of the box.

Mounting the valve on a gun which is basically a two foot long lever and then diving into a bunker is an overall bad idea. Only ONE regulator on the market has a fail safe shut off if the reg breaks off. Three letters, starts with A, you can guess the rest.

Anybody remember lawn darts or Jarts as they were called?
Sale in the U.S. BANNED. Know why. Because 3 children were killed by them. 2 people have already been killed from a PaintBall product in the last 5 or 6 months. Can you say C.P.S.C.

Jim Winslow continues to actively help the sport of paintball, but mentions that the World Paintball Committee is crucial in the success of the sport in to mainstream America because in order for the sport to be legitimate to the public, it must have a responsible entity representing the industry of paintball.

Ya sounds like A.S.T.M. Why dont we start with following standards already in place?
