how well does it throw? can you give me any tips? did you follow a preset plan? i only ask this because i have to build one for physics in the next couple weeks.

i didn't really follow any set plans, a couple things I would have done differently would be more weight and a longer frame( the thing tips itself over when we launch)

alot of info and links here http://www.trebuchet.com

ok new plans.....my a old rusty car *or steal it and do the owner a favor* make it so its like a door less window less back seatless chunk that still runs *make sure it still runs* now make this thing 100 x bigger and attach it to where the back seat use to be....and make it electro operated from the passenger seat...if no passenger make it timed

Okay, someone translate that last post for me. Gesh.

It was cool, at I think the Holy Grail game down in Houston, they had one roaming the field in a wagon that they would launch hotdogs out of it, as dead bodies, cows, etc... for those monty python fans out there with a 30 foot kill radius.

So what does this have to do with paintball?

Also what kind of range do you get with that monster?:)

Its kind of hard to see the size of it. I guess around 3-4 feet tall?

I...... could use it to throw paint with :)

this one is just a little guy, the frame is about a foot tall and the arm is about three feet upright

so far the best i have been able to throw is around 20' but with more weight and some tuning we should be in business

Another trebuche design was to use a swinging weight. It had two advantages, first it kept the counterbalance closer to the center of gravity and it was less likely to tip when throwing, and secondly it was little more than a basket that you filled with rocks~ meaning you didn't have to carry the main weight to the battlefield with you.

Won't mean much in a toy version, but in a full size it can make a difference.

You get it all tuned properly and start flinging Squadbusters on the field.

We built one of these in high school physics. The thing stood about 8 feet tall, had a huge throwing arm, and used several big steel lock boxes full of ball bearings as weight.

We got it to throw a bowling ball about 200 yards at one point...

Man was the school pissed when they found craters in their practice football field.
