Well, my team Routine Destruction just got a Site Mfg. sponsorship. For those of you that dont know, they make the St!ffi barrel. I got it in the mail today, and I must say, this barrel is so light, it simply boggles the mind...
I have yet to shoot it, which I will hopefully do tomorrow if it doesnt snow. The inside looks like glass, and the outside is a dull grey/black combination. Whats weird is, this one doesnt have the normal muzzle break. It simply has ALOT of holes up the sides. Once again, this thing is unbelievebly light, and when I shoot it, I will get back to you all about performance. Very nice packaging by the way, very clean and well delivered.

Cool, have fun with that. We recently got a Titanium Paintball quazi-sponsorship, hopefully we'll be able to try out some of that stuff. :)

I got a Stiff-tip from them initially.

Its very impressive, and the "mind boggling" weight is well worded.

The tip is a little bit quieter, for you scenario guys.

Its a bit sharp (mine is old style), so dont go jab an air bunker with it.

The people at Site are awesome to say the least, very organized and good communicators.

Also, check out Site's new site (no pun intended), they just redid it, and its not even all up yet.

I have a stiffi on my e-mag and I like it a lot. The last time i went to the field I didn't have it but had the mag (long story-it was being replaced because the previous owner had the old style and it cracked. So he sent me the mag and later sent the barrel)I have shot it in my back yard and it is very accurate.

Yeah I have a 14" on my Emag and it's a hella quiet and hella light barrel.

A real old picture:

Very nice pointm@n!

See people, these barrels are awesome!! Get one as soon as possible, and tell them you read about it on AO!

Do they have different bore sizes, or are they step bored like the Phantom carbon fiber barrels?

No, they have 4 different bore sizes that I am aware of. Check out their site;

They have different bore sizes, and the Sw!tch kit (cocker threads only so far).

The barrels are stepped like an angel, the equivelent of a two piece

they are nice, light, quiet. I have one on my emag too. click AO-IL in my sig to see mine.
the switch kit is disappointing though, the bore pieces seem about 2-3 inches too short.

dont they replace it for free also if you ever break it?

I noticed that when lookin at their barrel kit -- the control bore was only like 2'' long... Can't think that'd work very well..

Well, since i have used the kit, i will give my opinion.....

IT WORKS... plain and simple. I keep hearing people wondering about the short control bore, but it doesnt seem to make any difference in accuracy or consistancy. I havent had a chance to use it long enought to determine any effects on efficiency (i suspect slightly increased gas consumption).

Hmm, using something before talking it down.... thats a new concept ;)

Tom says a shorter control bore is more accurate guys.... read those articles

A longer control is slightly more efficent

If it didn't work, would Hammerhead sell theirs for as much as an emag? I rest assured site tested it also, I asked their rep about it, I would post it, but my email is dead

ill dig Toms quote up, i posted it before

lol very true but i wasn't about to shell out 200 clams for something like that, when I was unsure and haven't heard anything about them :)

I think I read the article about control bore lengths. I thought that some length was good (4-6 inches) and beyond that it starts to cause negative effects. But, less than 4-6 causes negative effects too..I thought. THis isn't the first barrel system with the short control bore design, this design has mixed reviews.

ahhhh here we go boys:

"So as far as our guns are concerned, the best efficiency would be had with an 8-10" effective length barrel. Since two piece ported barrels with an effective length of about 5-6" are the rage right now you hear a lot of complaints about gas efficiency. Under some circumstances there is a good reason to use a short effective length barrel. Short barrels cut off the acceleration abruptly by venting and this has the effect of tightening up the shot to shot velocity variation. If you need this at the expense of efficiency then go ahead. Tighter velocity control usually translates into some improvement in accuracy due to better consistency."-AGD here (http://www.automags.org/resource/tech/tomstech/01_barrel_eff.shtml)

So, Tom is saying less control bore=tighter shot to shot variation, some improvement in accuracy because or more consistancy, but it would be less efficent.

Therefore, a your precious Scepter (http://www.powerlyte.com/images_products_large/149.jpg) is more effiecent but less accurate, and a Hammerhead (http://www.hammerheadpaintball.com/images/gallery/big_01.gif)/Sw!tch (http://www.sitemfg.com/switch.html) would all be more accurate, and less efficent.

yeah! who's following the hype now! even your god, TK, said it

in that article Toms idea of a short bore is 5-6 inches. I agree that this is about the optimal length of control bore.

The switch only has a 1 inch long control bore. It just seems like that may be too short. I know that I am not alone here in thinking this way, I didnt buy it b/c of this reason.

Ok, looks like I wont be able to try it out today. Snow has prevented me from doing just about anything...

I don't know. I have a Kaner kit now, and I love it, but experience-wise the most accurate barrel I have ever used was a first gen OTP that had 1 inch inserts. This is not a controlled test experience. Just a comparison based on impression.

Ok, I got to test ou tthe barrel today. I must say, this is the most accurate barrel I have ever tested. WIth Evil paint, it shot amazingly. WIth the stock Speed barrel, I always had a little varience in accuracy with just about any paint, but all the shots I shot today were dead on. This barrel really does put the paint where you want it to go. I also noticed it was pretty quiet too, so this is the best barrel I have shot yet...

Warped, are you testing the kit or one of the individual barrels? Which bore? Just wonderin.

~WarpedRT#2~
03-17-2004, 11:30 PM
I am testing a single barrel. The bore size it .691. Works great with evil paint I have. I will be getting a kit within the next two weeks or so, and I can give that a full review as it comes along. Mark has a tip, and he loves it, you can PM him for more info if you need.

Thanks so much :)

If you don't toss the review on this thread, can you PM me the link to the review of the kit when you do it? Trying to figure out if I want to buy 2 stiffi's or the kit.

No problem. Expect it sometime next week, or early the week after.
