Would they be considered legal under tournament rules? And more importantly...

Would you wear one to play?

1. i doubt it unless you wore like pants under it cus in big tournaments your not allowed to have bare arms/legs

2. no, it would suck to slide in one of those

My guess is no. It never hurts to ask though. You might be able to get around the bare legs rule though if you wear shin guards. That might look kind of funny though.

This was actually looked into by a friend in Miami, who would play at DHP with a kilt, haha. They said it would give too many bounces, and therefore is not allowed. Get the material checked for how thick it is, then go from there.

well... you're not supposed to wear undies with kilts so it could reveal to be a funny sight.

good reason to wear kilts:

"Because it's easier to run away with your kilt up than with your pants down...."

My husband wears the Utilikilt, much thicker than the sport kilt and usually worn by workmen. The fabric is so thick that it'd probably cause an inordinate amount of bounces in a paintball game.

I love them, easy access and all...

Remember, it's all about freedom. You wear underwear with one of these and it's not a klit, it's a skirt.

I was actually looking into a utilikilt. Thats what really brought the question to my head.

About a year ago I thought I'd be a funny goofy guy and wear a kilt when I played paintball.

I then found out that a whole team wears kilts when they play...

Needless to say, I gave up that wacky kooky funny idea.

Well, they let me wear mine at Skyball.

As for the 'bounce factor', I've tried both, and got more bounces out of Dye pants. Sure, you get bounces in the area between your legs and where it flares at the side sometimes, but that would be a complete miss with pants on. The legitimate reason I can see is that the pleating can sometimes hide a hit.

I too, own and use a Sportkilt. If you get one of these, pony up for the poly/cotton blend rather than the straight cotton. It looks a lot better. The downside of these is that they're held on solely by velcro, and have only a 'swim trunks' style internal pocket. Looks like you're scratching yourself when you try to fish out your keys. Damn comfy, tho.

I also have an Amerikilt http://www.amerikilt.com - I actually like this one better. The belt loops and snaps give you better 'anti-pantsing' security, and it comes with a wallet pocket and sporran. The pleats are also sewn so that you can get away with machine washing it. The down side is it doesn't have the flexibility of the Sportkilt, which uses an elastic wasteband. It also costs more.

Thene there's the utilikilt http://www.utilikilt.com - I don't have one, but hear they're very nice. Built tough, and with built in cargo pockets. These cost a fair amount, but everyone I've heard from that owns one says they're worth it.

That is true… my Father used to wear his given almost any excuse. :D His belly is a bit “full” at this point for him to wear his kilt now… as I am sure mine is too…. LOL But my wife reminded me the other day that I really should start working out again. LOL

AO-Highlanders?

We could make an all AO kilt-wearing x-ball team!

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind having a kilt to play in. Dye Hybrids can get pretty hot when you've got kneepads and the such under them. A nice up-draft every now and then would be nice.

I like the idea of playing in a Kilt but living in Canada would make wearing a Kilt this time of year a little too chilly for me.
