ok so i'm new to mags.

I used to have a cocker and had a +/-3 fps at the chrony.

With my mag, i now have a +/- 8.....wich i find affects a lot my accuracy.

Is that normal on mags (+/- 8fps) or should i get it checked??

Everything is well lubed and in place. I've got a good paint to barrel match and use fresh paint.

What's your fps??

thank you

I had exactly the same question. Also, does the consistency improve after some brake in period?

I'm using HP and my mag is one week old.

There are a number of things that can affect consistency on the X-Valve. I'd say the most important ones are to make sure you're using the largest carrier that does not leak, your trigger pulls over the chrono are consistent as possible, and that you are using the correct chrono procedure.

If you're still having problems, try different paint before you start working on the marker. I've seen fresh paint that wasn't exactly round and I can attribute quite a few velocity inconsistencies to the paint used.

There is a break-in period, but I think it's more applicable to the lvl 10 than the X-Valve.

What kind of valve are you using? Classic? RT Based?

If you use the RT based valves, you have to chrono using AGD's procedure or you can experience fluctuations in chrono reading.

It's an X valve as the title states

if they are new xvalves let them wear in a little..

what would be a reasonable shot count to break in? 2000 shots? 5000?

Also, what consistency is achievable?

After some break in(around a case or so) +/- 2fps is quite realistic.

You've got to chrono xvalved/retrovalved mags a certain way. When you fire at the chrony, fire one shot and hold down on the trigger. When you are ready to fire the next shot, release the trigger quickly and repeat.
