!breaking A Forum Record!

CHECK IT OUT....IF YOU DONT GO IN FRIENDLY VERY MUCH.

Basically were breaking the record of most users on at a time. The date is April first. The time is 8 eastern, 5 west coast. Details are in the above thread. DONT MISS THIS.

Has anyone bothered to notify the Webmaster and database admins that you're intentionally trying to flood and hose their boards and bandwidth? :p

At least AO gets a stress test ... you know, practice for future growth. :)

Nobody is asking to flood the forums with anything...just to simply be logged in. What the people do while they are logged in will be there business.

Yeah Tom,
I was a little concerned that SOME people may find this a tad disruptive but Woo Hoo!!

I'd also like to state that there is no need to crash the server,(been fun if we did ;)) but you just need to be logged on for the count to register.

This should be neat if it gets going good.

650+ simultaneous SQL connections most definately WILL hose a server! All it takes is a few hundred people hitting their browser's refresh button. I'll defer to the MySQL query in my sig for how far I think this will get.

As of right now both threads pertaining to this have almost 1400 views combined. Lets pretned that each person only viewed one of the threads one time. And lets also pretend every single viewer will partcipate. That means we would still be about 200 short of PBN.

Now in reality, ive checked these threads probably 6 or 7 times total. I bet there are others who have done this multiple times too. So we need more people to hear about it, and participate, if we are even going to break our own record.

Its only Monday though, theres still plenty of time.

Also I had another thought, theres a part where it says how many guests are logged in. If I have a window open for my account, and a window open with my account logged out, does that count as 2 seperate users browsing? If so, our numbers could be doubled....THEN MAYBE we could take PBN's record.

7 PM centeral
6 PM mountain
5 PM west coast

Europe= 12 AM London,Lisbon
1 AM Paris, Berlin
2 AM Athens, Helsinki
3 AM Moscow

Asia= well im lazy add 7-10 hours on london time starting at thiland and burma

Remember April 1st not 2nd unless you over in europe or asia

well holding an event like this at 8pm isnt a great idea,

most of us that are older, or have kids, cant get to the computer till much later in the evening.

if you had of had it at 10pm i would have been there.
