is it sherBET or sherBERT?

this has been a longstanding debate between my friends and i. i seem to be the only one who pronounces it the way it is spelled, without the r. so please, let the fine citizens of automags.org decide who is right, once and for all.

ok guys, sherBET and sorbet are two different things. regardless, sherBET is still spelled that way, and damn it, its pronounced that way too!

The English language has many of these types of words that are pronounced differently from how they are spelled. For example: colonel sounds like kernel instead of "co-low-nell".

Just live with it.
