View Full Version : Who still uses and AutoMag Classic?

How many of you guys/gals here still use the AutoMag, instead of the E-Mag or X-Mag? Please add why.

I'll go first:
I myself have a Classic powerfeed. I got it over the other mags because I cannot afford the rest. I spent less than $200 on the classic with two barrels (told one is an old all-american), the vert air adapter, AGD asa, and some sort of expansion chamber or reg.

Works perfectly!

I've also got:

Technically, right now, I have two complete Classics. One is going to get turned into an RT Pro because of the X-Valve soon, the other is turning pro later on. But I am going to be building another Classic with the left over pieces of the other two so my twistlock barrels won't get lonely ;) It's going to be fully stock pf/hl, but with a double trigger on the stock trigger frame (trigger guard cut off :D )

I have 2 micromags with classic valves, one has the standard bolt the other has a venturi bolt. I have no need for a faster shooting gun, and seeing as I shoot to the guns capabilities I have no need for a lvl 10 bolt either (meaning I don't chop balls). Hell, I still play speedball with a pump gun, being out gunned means nothing to me :D

So minimag with lvl10

I can still dish it up. But today that changed, just got a xvalve with ult after our practice... With my Classic [:D] Classic is back with the rest of it's original parts as my "old school" backup.

some classics need to be drilled out to accept the ult(2 o-ring thing). and then there's the overshooting of the valve.

Although I currently use and Xmag for my primary marker, I still like to hack around with my trusty old Minimag, "The Purple People Eater"(pic in the sig) Theres nothing wrong with the classics they work well, and take an unbelievable amount of abuse, not to mention you can take them home and throw them in the shower(or shower with them if that's your thing... )

until my RT arrives next week (hopefully), my classic is my main gun. I recently stuck a vert minimag body on it, but it's pretty bone stock. (I even used the crownpont barrel for a few years).

It's been faithful and dependable for many many years (check the serial number in my .sig).

I still use a classic for 2 reasons. 1. I don't have enough money to buy anything better. 2. Air isn't readily available in my area, although my friend and I are changing that-we've got a few scubas, one is in hydro right now.

Enter those suckers in gun of the month, man.Not yet. The vert framed Dallara is getting an X-Valve, fade ano, and laser engraving on the grip panels, and the other, which will remain a "classic," is going to have the lowers ano'ed again (so it isn't six different shades of black), and also get an upgrade to aluminum laser engraved .45 panels.

When they're done, I plan on winning GOTM for both October AND November. :)

This is an old automag that a co-worker gave me, not sure of the year, does'nt say classic on the valve, has a spring instead of a spacer in power tube, any way put a o-ring kit in it and it works good. I think he may have bought in the mid to early ninties.

Actually, i just gassed up my ULE'd classic today with some spare fittings, boy does it feel familiar! That broken in o-ring feeling on the mag, the tactile repsonse. Lemme tell ya, the emag has spoiled me, or any electro for that matter. As far as im concerned the Classic is faaar from obselete. Im gonna take it for a spin the next time i play.

not necessarily. My LVL7 mag had a spring, the spacers came out MUCH later IIRC.

The main visible difference (again, IIRC) is that lvl 6 and earlier has a spring clip holding the power tube in place, and they started welding with lvl7.

My thread lives!!! I though it was gone months ago, then got an e-mail that there was a reply!

I have a spring in my powertube also, but I thought they all did  I am going to check if it's welded or has the spring clip right now.

You guys have some sweet mags! Mine has the steel pf body, and an all-american barrel. That's it. Need money....

EDIT: It's welded... level 7.... guess I'm not as special as I thought. Probably better that I have a level 7 though, as it is the gun I use. Has to be better somehow.

Stainless minimag PF right. I got it in a package trading away an Impulse I hated. I sold the Intelli and use the single carbon fiber grip frame. The humble few goodies are a 10 inch boomie. a Lapco drop, and (not so humble) an emag valve.

Every time I head to the local rec field a few player ask about the mag. It is quite funny.

I’ve got 2 classic valved Mags (1 SF and 1 PF). Both are lvl 7s, so I don’t really use the standard feed because of blowback issues. The PF classic is my primary rec-ball gun and my A-5 is the backup. Also have 2 RT-Pros, but they don’t count here since they are X-valves. Spare parts are the bane of my existence! Every time I upgrade one of them, instead of selling off the old parts, I end up buying more parts to build another Mag… Damn my hoarding disorder!!!
