Check this auction for a so-called:

Tricked-out X-mag paintball marker (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47252&item=3671669123&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) ...

Does anyone actually fall for this?

Fall for what? Im not grasping what your calling a scam here? He calls it an Xmag because of the valve, as do many people. Its obvious hes not trying to trick anybody.

its ok if you have an x-valve to call an automag a x-valved mag, not x-mag. the x-mag is a x-valved mag but a x-valved mag is not an x-mag. too late now i guess...

you are a loser if you buy it thinking its an Xmag.

Actually the Xmag is a Emag Xtreme. So in essensce the poster isn't wrong for calling his Xvalved mag a Xmag. It in sense has a Xvalve and is a mag. I see no wrong here. If people fall for it that's darwinism doing it's thing.

It's just like people calling mags with Retro Valves RetroMags, he states what it is and has pics, I don't think h is trying to rip anyone off.

an x-mag is a mag marketed with styled aluminum body, x-valve, and electronic grip frame, among other things, granted the mag does have an x-vlave, but it doesn't ahve the body, it doesn't ahve the grip so its an x-valved mag.

Looks to me like he is being more than honest and laying it out for the world to see. So folks have a problem with the title he used? Do you bid on an auction by only reading the title? There is nothing to “fall” for in this auction.

i think the auction is not only valid, but one of the more honest ones I've seen in a long time

the price is a little steep though

Well now he's changed the title so it's all good.

If I put a retro valve in my mag, I can call it a Retro Mag and noone will complain. Why cannot it be called an X-Mag if it has an x-valve.

If this guy's auction was so "honest" and "valid" why did he go and change the title? He must have recognized it was less than good form. Now it's "honest" and "valid." Good for you, jos3ywal3s.

It's actually not a bad little set-up he's auctioning here...

I was amused by the gun value he posted but other then that I didnt see anythign wrong. To go that far would be to also jump on people calling mags with hyperframes "hypermags" because actually they are not. There was a limited run valve bodies called the Hypermag. There are very few out there if you can find 1. But I am even guilty of that 1. Its just easier for a person to understand.

I know a lot of people out there hear different names but have no clue what the item is.
I've had people refer to my X'ed MicroMag as an X-Mag because they don't actually know what an actual X-Mag is.
They just saw the X and asumed.
He most likely changed the title because someone educated him to his mistake.

x-mags were going to be called e-mag extreme but they couldn't because there was already a marker called extreme so it is called the x-mag

It was probably originally(it's fixed now) posted as an Xmag to get hits on searches.
