Howdy everyone,

You may, or may not, have noticed I havent been around as much. Well I am going to tell you all why.

First off, many of you know that I have had bad sciatic nerve pain for many years. It saps my engery and makes me a generally cranky bastard. It has also made it real hard to strap on 20lbs worth of gear and go run around and shoot people.

Well I got a fire lit under my bum lately and have been fighting to find out WHAT is wrong with me.

In the past I have tried surgery, cortozone shots, physical therapy, accupuncture, chiropractic, drugs, and just doing nothing. None of those things really helped. Well the drugs did - but they dont want me on them.

So in this recent bout, I have had a CT scan, and an MRI and talked with 4 nerosurgeons. For awhile I had a scare as they thought I had a Schwannoma - which is basically a tumor on a nerve sheath in your spine. But it turns out its most likely a harmless cyst filled with spinal fluid. (isnt medicine fun).

Anyway - no one knows what is wrong with me. They have eliminated some of the nastier things it could be though - so thats good. I have a couple more test they can do to see how the nerves in my body acutally work.

All of this leads up to me going to the Mayo Clinic. I am going to the one in Rodchester, MI. It is suppposed to be the BEST hospital for neuro science in the world. If any one can figure out why I hurt its these guys!

So - being that we at AO have been through so much I thought I would just share some of my private life. I have already mentioned it to some of the people in the chat room.

I leave April 20th and I dont know how long I will be gone (a few days to a week probably).

Also - when I get back, I will work on making AO a bit more home like. I think that Rich just used the default settings when upgradding AO. I kinda like the layout, but I should be able to go in and change the colors etc to make it a bit more like the old AO. Hopefully I will be out of pain and can sit down and stay up late to get it done for you all.

So - wish me luck and Ill post when I know more!

Sorry to hear about your nerve problems. I know what that's like. My wife is having severe sciatic nerve issues (from being pregnant). At one point she couldn't even move her leg (couldn't stand or walk). I hope they find the problem and fix it. Living in pain sucks! Good luck and have a speedy recovery.

I hope your going to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. It really is a world class hospital. Many foreign dignitaries go there for treatment. Good luck, they'll treat you right and get to the bottom of your problems. They commonly cover the cost of treatment for rare illnesses/disorders insurance doesn't to gain new research.

Best of luck Webmaster. Like MicroMiniMe said, MANY dignitaries go there, it truly is a world class hospital. There's a paintball place a few miles north of Roch so if you're jonesin for some paintball, it's there. Not sure when they open back up though. Also, there's an indoor place up near the Twin Cities, I think that's about 2 hours away. Best of luck.
