Image attachments test

I think I turned it on. Need to see what you registered users are seeing.

Please test it and upload an image here for me and note I have temporarily set limit to 60K bytes and 800 X 600.

phil, tried, but cant upload, apparently im above my limit for attachments? I had been attaching for a few years, so i guess i would be above the limit... ;)

We never had a "total attachment limit" before...

errr phil i think that limit you put is the limit of total attachments we can put not total for each attachment since mines maxed out

Yea I am going to have to do some research on that after I get the main attachement running. Was that the error message you got? Too many attachments. If I recall correctly I can go in and clean those individually for some of you. Or raise those limits overall. But right now I want to get the main group up and running.

for some reason the signature is capped at 500 characters, it was fine before, but no real biggie... i had to delete Tom's quote though.. :(

No I will tweek that a bit as I get this things running. However the dimentions will probably stay close to that 800 X 600 to make the pages not get too wide. Not nessicarily the file size limit.... I just chose an arbitrary number for now based on some pictures I examined. But I will muck with it some more.

But for now resize them and see what you get.

The maximum signature limit is default. I think its reasonable though...

So just for today lets experiment with 60,000 bytes and 800 X 600 as the limits and thats on BPM, JPG, GIF, JPEG's for now. I will be doing some tayloring on those later and the other types as well. Just want to see what problems you have and all with those common ones..

Well those limits are not set in stone but I have seen some very good quality pictures in less than 50K...

I understand, and I think its a good thing. No limits was the issue and the cause last time the attatchments failed wasnt it?

Messing with some more numbers. Right for now I am bumping the image to 600KB and allowing 800 X 800

I think we not going to allow that high a resolution. Probably will be half of that. Maybe 300 KB or something.

fyi i just resized a photograph to 800x600. as a jpeg or gif using the save for web feature in photoshop it comes out to < 230kB. 300kB should be fine. assuming of course people aren't dumb about it. leaving all the exif data intact the photo weighs in at 1.37MB.
