View Full Version : Hose barbs are REALLY weak

I was installing a hose barb into a Timmy front block and it twisted right off. I didn't notice any change in the resistance at all (untill it came off).

Luckly I was able to stick the blade of my AGD super knife into the hole and remove the threaded portion that was left in there. Got to love the super knife! :D

Is this common or did I just have a really crappy barb?

It's brass. Brass is a soft metal compared to aluminum, steel and titanium for paintball guns.

In one way this was good. I was easly able to dig my knife point into the metal to get a good grip for extraction of the left over threads.

Yes, this is something that many timmy owners go through. Its a pain in the ***, but like you discovered, it is easy to get the barbs out.

I just ordered some of those "high flow" barbs and I'm hoping that they aren't even weaker due to the larger diameter hole through them.
