Disclaimer:This is a video of two REAL F-15 trainer's against a REAL F4 Phantom. This video is not of a model F4 attacking a dog or vice versa, even though such a video would be amusing.

radar love is turning up alot in these little internet videos.. I wonder what hte significance of this is?
the other thing, I just saw on the discovery channel that the F-15 can fly with just one wing. Boeing finally tested it after a pilot flew all the way back to his carrier and landed.... with just one wing. nutz

F15's dont land on carriers. F14s or 18s do.

cept when it's an emergency landing? Don't ask me.... ask discovery channel
There's no reason they can't? other then they can't take off again. but if it's missing a wing I doubt it's going anywhere anyway

I may be wrong on this but don't F-15's not have tail hooks? Which would be why they don't land on aircraft carriers.

/me cries after watching that video. :(

What a waste of a classic aircraft. If they need to dispose of them, I might be able to make some room in the parking lot at my apartment complex. ;)

Here is all the info you could want on the F-15 (http://www.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=102) .

Heat you might be thinking about the F-14. The F-15 is made by McDonnell Douglas, not Boeing! ;) Here is a list of all Naval Fixed Wing Aircraft (http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/factfile/ffiletop.html#air1) and the Marine Corps Marine Fixed Wing Aircraft (http://www.hqmc.usmc.mil/factfile.nsf/AVE?OpenView&Start=1&Count=1000&Expand=1#1) .

All fighter aircraft have tail hooks ... but not all are capable of landing on a carrier. The stresses incured during a trap landing are designed into the airframes that the Navy uses from the drawing board. Now would a carrier attempt to land a F-15 (USAF asset) with a missing wing on the deck? Doubtfull. Honestly the navy would have the F-15 fly ship side and have the pilot eject as close as possible to aid recovery.

OH and so ya dont get confused about who uses what...

F-14 navy carrier based fighter/bomber
F-15 air force air superiority fighter/bomber
F-16 air force lawn dart
F-18 navy carrier based fighter
Harrier USMC
F-22 USAF replacment for the F-15
F-24 everyones replacment for something... F-16, whatever navy is discontinueing, and the harrier

I think the one winged F-15 thing Heat is thinking about is an incident with the Israeli AF. There was a mid-air collision on a training mission. The F-15 had most of its wing (right side I think) ripped off. The pilot was able to bring it back safely. Afterwards they asked Boeing (probably McDD at the time) if it was possible and they were told no.

No carrier involved, but there are pictures on the net of the damage. Really amazing to see.

The F-15 with the missing wing is true. I was watching the show on the History channel the other night, but it was an Isrealie pilot in a training excersise that collided with a crappy Mig. The pink-o-tech mig went *piff* and the F-15 lost a wing. He then landed on a ground based airfeild not a carrier.

The F-15 rules because it has a 118:0 kill ratio. :D

Stuff like that make me like paying taxes.

ww2 bombers used to come back missing wings, tails almost anything you can think of

boeing bought mcdonell douglas a few years ago.

The F-14 is not Boeing it was a Grumman design. Notice the "cat" in the name Tomcat. All grummans are named something-cat. Sorry if I spelled Grumman wrong.

Cool video. Thanks, Indigo.

edweird - I think you have the F14 & F18 roles mixed up. The F/A-18 is a fighter/bomber, and the F-14 is specifically designed for air superiority/air-defence of the carrier task forces. The Harrier is the AV-8.

ya, the f-15 is a great fighter.....
the IDF f-15 that lost a wing hit an A-4, not a mig. It had to land at about 200mph, and it was flying crooked...... :P

Also, in Alaska, a couple f-15's were dogfighting, and one guy accidently let fly a live Aim-9. It struck the tail of the other F-15, damaged the plane, and the guy landed...... so now when the eagle drivers guys battle the Vipers, they're like "u gotta get us twice now...."
