I just got the sickest graduation present in the world. It's a brand new HP laptop. Here's a link to the specs:

Just a taste of what this badboy has:

-3.2 GHz with hyper threading technology
-a frieking gig of ddr ram (1024 megabytes)
-80 gig hard drive
-dvd/cd burner

I am so stoked with my new toy. I've never owned anything even close to as expensive as this except for my car.

jeez that's the same specs my desktop has. Oh well bet you don't have 21" monitor :p or 5.1 surround.

I'd kill for a laptop like that. My laptop is an old POS Dell. Something like 400mhz and 128 mb ram, it's only good for writting papers and what not.

the transition between computers i made is kinda funny. i previously had a desktop with the following:

-32 mb sd ram
-266 MHz
-4 gig hard drive (i think)

it was bad. i'm going to get a fat surround sound system so i can watch dvd's on my 15" monitor. my mom just got herself a laptop almost like mine. mine's newer and a little better but she has a 17" which is cool for movies.

If you're gonna watch movies on the go, keep in mind that a computer like that eats up battery power. My mom has a powerful laptop and it'll run for 2 hours max on a single charge, which is barely enough to get through some movies.

my mom basically has the same laptop and hers has a max battery life of 3 hours. it usually lasts like 2 or 2 1/2 hours

i'm just gonna watch movies in my room, but i'll use the laptop on the go in college

look man, i've never had anything nice in my life. i grew up poor living with my mom and my little bro.

she gradually worked up to a better job so now we're well off, but she's been supporting us for our whole lives as a single mom.

i'm very grateful for this, plus it's my 18th birthday/graduation present.
