What color/brand of loctite is best for using on s/s hose fittings? Oh, and how much should I use?

Thanks

I thought red was the permanent (read very hard to remove) type. It was the blue you wanted to use. Or the purple 545 thread sealant.

DONT USE RED UNLESS YOU NEVER PLAN TO REMOVE IT EVER AGAIN!!!!! To remove red loctite requires extreme heat; I had to use a propane torch to loosen the red loctite on my Maxflo. Use BLUE loctite. This hold very well, but under enough pressure it will break. Just a few drops should be enough; you don't need to soak it. And be sure to put the loctite at the end of the thread (the beginning), so that the loctite is evenly dispersed throughout all the threads when you screw it in. Be sure not to touch it for 24 hours also.

Loctite 565 thread sealant.

Formulated specifically for metal, tapered pipe thread fittings, 565 PST® replaces Teflon® tape and pipe dopes. Cures rapidly to withstand 10,000 psi.

DO NOT use Red threadlocker,it's technically a perment thread locker.

Ok thanks, you can buy this at pretty much any hardware store right?

yep; its really cheap too. I'd also pick up some teflon tape while you're there; some good stuff to have around in case of leaks.
