I just got back from my local scuba shop here in Sac and had a great experience at the store. Something that doesn't happen much at any store nowadays. I went down to pick up a 80/3300 tank but wound up buying a 100/3300 instead. I did lots of research trying to find the best deal and I can't believe a retail store beats internet prices! Now I have enough air to fill both my tank and my sons tank all day and have some to spare!

Here's what I got:

Brand New 100/3300 Tank - $199 ($230 plus shipping anywhere else)
Tank Boot - $7.50
20 Fills (paid in advance) - $60

After taxes I paid $288 out the door. This is one of the larger tanks and the smaller tanks most people use will be much cheaper.

If you're looking for good deals on Scuba tanks, check out Andy's Scuba World. He's a really nice guy and loves us paintballers! He also ships anywhere for decent prices too. While I was dealing with him, someone called from the bay area about a tank. I overheard him say something about 8 bucks shipping. He's an honest guy and doesn't want to rape you on prices.

This is a great little shop and I highly recommend him for all your scuba needs!

man, all i saw was the title and the first thing that came to mind was "andy's scuba world" that is one great place. and actually, that IS a good deal for a brand new tank at a store. usually i see them go for like $300+.

I wish I was up there I'd pick some up. The bigger tanks at the higher pressure would be much better.

I got 2 Aluminum Catalina 80cf/3000psi SCUBA tanks on sale at Sports Chalet $99 each. They are available in blue, yellow, silver and black.

that 100/33k does it have the regular valve on it? I always thought they came with a different valve (the other one that doesn't fit regular fill adapters).

yeah thats a good deal if you got it new. You don't live around much water do you?

I paid like 185 or 189 plus tax for a 80/3k. No free fills, boot and protector thing extra. There is only one dive shop in town here. But they are friendly to the paintballers.

Search around. You can find better deals.

If you know any Firemen you can try to get one of their tanks used.

I have a 80cf/4500psi fiber wrapped tank. You can find them from $200-350. The tanks have a 15 yr life before they have to be destroyed.

These tanks are perfect for two people. It's also good to get one of these plus a 3000psi tank so that you can top off.

whoa, a 80cu/45k! You got that off a fireman. Who do you get to fill it for you then. Are the valves compatible with regular scuba fill stations?

3300 tanks have a standard yoke valve that is compatible with paintball fill stations.

Higher pressure tanks use a DIN valve that tou need to get a DIN to YOKE adapter for.

I thought scuba tanks with a psi rating higher than 3300 were illegal in the states? That what a scuba shoop owner told me when I was first looking into tanks.

Of course, if it was from a fireman, I can see how you got it. But unless the owner of Divers Cove was talking out of his bum, wouldn't it be considered illegal to use and fill that tank?

Dunno about being illegal. I'm not 100% sure how big it is but here is a pic next to my 68/4500. What does 144cc convert to?

I get it filled at my local PB shop. They can actually fill to 5k there with the compressor set up they have. We just put a reverse adaptor to it to fill.

So how do you take a fill off of that. That valve is really different. What sort of adapter did you rig up? I found a site that sells used ones of those bottles.

One centimeter equals 0.032808399 feet

as noted by that label:

That tank follows DOT Exemption 11194 and therefore has a maximum lifespan of 15 years, but must be retested either every 3 to 5 years, depending on the date of the tank.

You sir, have an expired tank, and any legitimate paintball store would NOT be filling that for you.

cc is cubic centimeter. 144cc = 12.2ci.

REE means: rejection elastic expansion

http://www.carltech.com/new-composite/e11194.html (Potatoboy beat me to it :o )

and good GOD! Look at some of the cylinders on their product list:
550ci 12000/24000 psi EWR 127-1, CC/AL 7.04" 22.00" 11.80 lbs. MS-10

http://www.carltech.com/new-composite/PTDproduct_list.pdf

And an important warning against fast filling paintball cylinders.

Give us the link! :p

Seeing as the tank threads seem to be standardised, could it be possible to take a few medium to large tanks, use PB regulators, and build an automatic cascade fill station?

Perhaps carry it around in something like this: http://www.tank-tender.com/

Actually I do not. If you look at the first picture you can see in red letters "Ross Fire Extinguishers." That is my re hydro label. Too lazy to take another pic but it was tested 2-2003 so. The tank is up to date. Before you accuse you should slow your roll and take in the facts or at least ask.

I do agree with you no legitimate store would or should fill ANY expired tank.

I got my scuba and fill station for 50 bucks. :) Bought it from my friend. The tank is less than a year old. I love when people are desperate for money to pay for prom :)

where did you find a DIN addaptor that would fit your fill station? when i was in my PADI open water diver class, i thought that your secondary regulators screwed directly into the primary yoke one?
