Thats horrible. If I knew i was going to die anyway I would take as many of them with me as possible. Pull all the pins on the grenades. Use the RPG as a CQB weapon. Whatever it takes they are not going to make a political example of me.

Seriously though. There would be no taking me as a hostage. Screw that man, they would have to kill me. There ain't no way they are gonna get me in front of a TV camera and speak for them.

i'm gonna say that's kind of his fault... if he's south korean.. and he's in iraq... transporting stuff for the us military... he is obviously aware of the threat... he shouldn't have been there in the first place...

He lived there for 10 years.

I was thinking about this the other day.

These guys seem to love explosives (mortars, grenades, RPGs, whatever). Make a quick grab, pull some pits, hit some fuses, whatever, and bang. You go out with them.

Or, when they try to capture you, make a run for it.

There's no way in hell I'd let them catch me if I could at all avoid it.

If he ran they would shoot him and then behead him. It is a no win situation. I wish him the best and hope for his safe return. I will not hold my breath though. :(

Its his fault terrorists kidnap unarmed civilians? I think not. We need to start doing the same, and taking a MUCH stronger stance. America needs to stop being so tough talking and weak acting. The public needs to come to grips that we need to fight fire with fire...and stop trying to win their haerts and minds, and just start summarily executing any terrorists we find.

Let's not also forget Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg.

Also, they shoot you then they cut your head off.

Personally, if I was in the forces right now I'ld be making as many bacon fat-bombs as I could. Let them die with bacon smeared shards of shrapnel in their bodies.

This is the same kind of sympathetic liberal trash that puts the blame of a rape on a woman cause she likes to dress sexy.

"Hey, she gave me a hard on and was touching me then she said no. I lost control and next thing you know.....bang!"

Kim Sun-il, Paul Johnson, Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl.

Not a single one of them were combatants. Three were there to make thier misearble little worlds a little bit better and one was there to give the world information on the status of things in Iraq and these animals murdered them.

They are far to cowardly to face our army in fair combat and instead take it to an innocent citizenry.

But why should this surprise us or did we all forget September 11, 2001?

Also, we can't just go a bomb the Middle East "back to the stone age".

The ME's will be happy for it, grateful for the living condition upgrade.

no, your just the only one that doesnt read the rest of the replies. :p

props to the s. korean government. i saw quite a few protests on the news tonight and they stuck to their guns. they will not pull their troops out. personally, i think it would be badass if they said that in light of the current situation it seems obvious that MORE troops are needed in the region. now that would really piss off the terrorists. anyway you look at it, the koreans add a new slant to the situation.

This one really hits me pretty hard. Being a korean and a christian. I really REALLY hope that we can do something about this if it isn't too late already.

There's nothing we CAN do aside from finding out where he's being held and rescue him. We ABSOLUTLY cannot succumb to these kinds of demands and I'm glad that Korea has some balls and won't give in (like some spanish-speaking countries that we know). In the end, bargaining for this man's life will cost us more lives, as it encourages this kind of behavior and there's no guarantee whatsoever that he will be released even if their demands are met.

I wish these "insurgents"/terrorists get a clue and stop this hostage-taking crap.

I say we take a 100 of these terrorists for every person they take. So, let's take a few thousand. Now!!!

That won't work, because they don't place anywhere near the same value on human life as we do. The insurgents are blowing up Iraqi civilians left and right, and everyone in the middle east is more upset over the butt pyramid at Abu Ghraib.

whats ROK soldiers?

seriously, not to sound racist, but the Iraqi soldiers are cold hearted "savages". i mean how do you cut off the head of a screaming man, and feel his warm blood on your hands. its just not "human". you would have to be a freakin airheaded animal to do that. honestly, lets just nuke them, use their land as a landfill and nuclear testing site

ROK=Republic of Korea. Their troops were considered to be tough SOBs when they served in Vietnam.

Im telling you, the Iraqi insurgent and the foreign terrorists just dont place the same value on human life as we do. The way they think is so different, they might as well be aliens.

They are elite soldiers, in every sense of the word 'elite'.

These "cold hearted savages" ought to be afraid of the ROK soldiers if they have any clue - the Vietnamese knew what was up with them and were afraid. The ROKs are seriously bad *** mofos, as tough and as well trained as they come.

The guards stand like this all day at the DMZ without moving (or complaining).

All Korean males at 18 years old must join the army for 3 years... this is related with the constant threat of North Korea. It makes no difference how rich you are, or if your dad is the president. They basically beat the crap out of them all the time, and someone dies once in a while. They get to sleep in a bit if they got the crap beat out of them the night before... otherwise they're up at 1AM or something. When American soldiers are outside shivering, complaining about the weather - the ROKs stand at attention for hours without blinking an eye - blinking at the wrong time will get you punished. Officer punches a soldier, knocks him down. Soldier is immediately back up at attention as if nothing happened. They are conditioned for torture, and basically won't give up information if they are tortured. They are very efficient killers. They're all crazy in a way... because they're made to be.

Their discipline is just ridiculous.

Every male Korean... kinda hard to imagine eh.

My uncle was a ROK soldier - I get my info from what he and other family have told me. My grandma had to carry him home a lot because he would get beat up so bad. Edweird was in Korea not long ago, and cleared me up on some stuff... he knows quite a bit about them.

I spent a summer in Korea 1988. I was 7 years old at the time.

For some reason, I went to school with my cousin. They had year-round classes.

The best part about my trip- the teacher could beat you.

Dude, Koreans have no problem with beating up each other. :p Beating your kids up is perfectly acceptable/normal... right in public, no problem. Teachers can do it, superiors in military can do it... quite different mentality than here.

What's kind of funny lately is this 'acceptable' torture type lists that have been on the news. I tell you what... you don't want to be a prisoner of the ROKs - hell, you wouldn't want them to treat you like their own soldiers, let alone how they would treat an enemy! :p

I recently found out that my grandfather and great-uncle both served in Vietnam. My grandfather also served in the Korean War (On the South Side, of course). I don't know much about the ROK and it's cool to know that my grandfather (passed away 12 years ago) was part of this bad-*** group of soldiers.

It's great to learn things like this! :)
