Do-it-yourself ULT milling?

In order to fit the ULT into a classic or older rtpro valve what do you need to mill? Also is the part needed the modification stainless steel or aluminum?

Do you just have to mill out the area for the square shaped head of the on/off?

ULT fits into a classic just fine.

The ReTro valve, however, will need the "shelf" around the single oring milled down flat. And no, you shouldn't attempt this. You mill to far, and you ruin your valve.

And it's stainless steel.

Ya you may be able to dremel out that little step, but for $15 have a professional do it. :)

The hardest part is the setup. Lining up the hole isn't as hard as making sure it is perpendicular to the machine (without binding). The existing cylinder is about .001 over 3/8". The 'step' is .125 high. The steel is pretty soft and mills well. Only took me about 6-8 minutes.

I don't care how good you are with a Dremel you will ruin your valve! Definitely worth the $15 they charge.
