I lost the pics of our one GOOD year... literally a WALL of cakes and artillery... we had 4-5 paper-bags FILLED to the top with artillery shells. There was about 2 hours straight of artillery going off from 4-5 cannons we had... it was a pretty sweet setup :ninja:

Along with that year we had a bunch of Class-B stuff (Really Illegal) :D

Yes they are, but only you can buy them here, just not transport them...doesn't make much sense to me...but oh well...I live just outside the city...if I lit a firecracker I would have the cops all over me...so I am a good boy.

Muzik, those pics look great!! How'd you get them? Last time I tried to take pictures of fireworks, every single one came out blurred and/or fuzzy... :(

Fireworks are illegal for the most part here (nothing that blows up or leaves the ground) but that didn't stop me. :headbang:

Thanks! The biggest key is a tripod. If you do not have a tripod, don't even try. Second key is a camera that will allow you to change the shutter speed, you want between a 2 and 3 second exposure (being able to change the apature is a plus too, if you can, f9.5-f13 is usually what I use). The third thing that is nice is a remote shutter release.

It boils down to, you need a long exposure, so you need to make sure the camera doesn't move at all.

I have more pictures of fireworks and other junk at www.jbeamphotos.com

EDIT: I just noticed, the three I posted (which are from three different displays) are all blue...guess I like the blue fireworks.

Fireworks are illegal here too, but there's a few loopholes in the laws that say you can use them for "agricultural use" like scaring away birds so you just sign a paper saying that's what they're for and you're good to go. It's supposed to be against the law to light them on the beach too, but they screwed up the law and had to redo it or something so it won't go into effect till after the 4th :D

Everyone knows homemade fireworks are the best!

assortment packs are usually a waste of money. Best bang for the buck is the reloadable artillery shells.

Wherever you guys live must be expensive fireworks. Here in hillbilly missouri we have gross of bottle rockets for 29 cents. Or a case for 10 bucks. And of course its always fun just to buy one of those roll of blackcats about the size of a tire. String it all around the yard, up and down trees, around their trunks, acrross the yard to the other side... Light it and it goes off for about 10 minutes of deafening machine gun fire!

That's interesting, I was thinking I would've needed a really short exposure... but now that I think about it, longer makes more sense. Cool, thanks!! :)

Bah, the "real" fireworks are illegal here, even the freaking ones you can buy at stands are illegal in my town! We always have to go to a friends house to light them off. But just because they are so fun I bought 60 groundblooms, I love those things. Oh, by the way, Blazestorm, I officially hate you now.

Ahhh, the days of youth. Making plastic tube pipe bombs with homemade blackpowder. Blows up dead stumps and walls of sand (sandpit side of hill) real nice. Bottle rocket fights were always more interesting with whistlers with report. We all had our own pipe with ignition/launch shield to keep the sparks off out hands. Roman candles were never out bag. Thowing Jumping Jacks though the air just as they ignite was a learned skill. Extra points for skipping them on the water. My mom would always light a whole pack of jumping jacks under some unsuspecting 1/2 drunk guest at the campfire, and always months away from the 4th when noone expects it.

I've caught myself on fire on a few occasions, and my cousin dented my moms truck with a rocket once.

Ya Muzikman props on the pics. Im very interested in photography, took some classes and have to say, nice pics!

Laws in New York suck, but we usually drive down to Pennsylvania get some fireworks and light them off. Cops dont seem to care if its on the fourth of July, or any other day. My next door neighbor is a cop and he comes out and watches them with us.

You think thats alot of fireworks? try taking 2,000 ground bl;ooms (the quality chinese kind that actually blow up... literally! it shot burning material and burned holes into my shirt!) and stuffing th3m all into a metal can. add a handheld sparkler, and watch in amaxzemen from a hundred yards away as a hundred foot tall blast of heat erupts from the can, looking like the fires of hell, and then ducking as a HUGE explosion sears trhe eyebrows off of everyone within a thousand feet. afterwards, we went to check out the damaqe. "HOLY $#!+ the can is gone!". you can buy quality fireworks from china around here (even roman candles) from any safeway walmart and longs drugs two times a year, 4th of july and chinese new years. there is alot more and less expensive stuff around new years. you can buy them in bulk. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
