View Full Version : With the renewed interest in Sydarms

Is there a market for a "Sydarm" type body that could be mounted to stock mag parts? I'm sure there are folks out there with lots of stock grip frames/rails/valves that would think about putting one together. I for one would probably do it if the body was reasonably priced. I'm not in the business of making things like this, but it seems like a potential moneymaker for someone who is.

Any comments/opinions?

Well I like it. :D If anything, it could be a limited production run.

I was wondering if you could just take a sydarm body and make it work, you would have to re-route the gas but as far as i know the measurements are all the same? Looks like it would work.

I would defiantly buy one if it were made even if it was $150.

CA, none of those annoying things to buy, and more consistent

CA is nicer, besides. I can always take my phantom CO2 powerlet adaptor and screw it into a CA fitting. :D

I would prefer CA too. Dont have to buy all those 12 grams

The only thing is that with CA it looses its compact size. With the CO2 cartridges its is small like how they made it to be.

With 12 gram carts the Sydarm stays a sidearm, so i would vote that way. (Would be nice to have the option though.)

Now, if only SOMEONE (cough, Rogue, cough) was to make an aluminum Sydarm body for us... ;)

Interesting idea. Would you prefer a 12 gram type system, or a CA?

To be honest, I hadn't put much thought into that part of it. The body is the important thing. ;) As for an air supply, it could be as simple as attaching one of those 12 gram changers that screws into a standard ASA and screwing it into a vert adapter. If someone were to make a right angle "vert" adapter so that the 12 gram faced forward instead of down, then it would still be a pistol you could holster. But like I said, I feel the body is the really important thing.

Does it even need to be a full blown body? Maybe just a spring loaded tube assembly that could easily screw into a vert veed ULE body?

All you would have to do is make a right angle feed neck and a spring fed tube. This would be very easy to do and it would fit on the existing ULE bodies.

That is what Tom should have done with all the classic valves is turn them into sydarms (read: change the sydarm body so they work) and then sit back and rake in the cash.
Look how many he is selling just here at AO, He could of marketed the snot out of these (ad in magazine(gasp!)!) and sold a ton.
Some people might not like the mag name for a tourney gun but for a sidearm in the non tourney world there is nothing for a quality pistol and he could of changed that.
Yes I know classic valves and CO2 don't get along well but it is a sidearm not a main gun but I never had a problem with my old classic and CO2 but only if I was trying to unload 2 full hoppers fast would it freeze.

if you go to:

http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/catalog/catalog.htm

and scroll down for the "stocker tube" it's a quick way to convert regular feed to tube. I don't know anything else about them, but was thinking of picking one up for either my pump mag project of my micromag just to see what it's like.

i think you could probably just do it with a feedneck as well but it would have to be a swivel neck that can lock down because if it cant peoples tubes will be stickin out all over the place

That would be awesome! Make it a 15 round spring feed and i'd def. buy one.

Why not convert the horizontal feed from the AM Illusion (angel threaded) into a spring feed, then mount it onto a ULE body?

That's sort of what I am talking about, the problem is it would probably be easier to make the feed tube from scratch as with a spring fed, you need to load from the top, not the end.

Let me bump this back up. Hopefully some of our more enterprising mag part providers will notice... ;)

If someone were smart they would machine the SLUG body and bolt on the 12gram adaptor and spring tube.

But you'd need an old valve. Right?

Or, is the new pin available to allow Xvalves to handle CO2?
