Cut out the rust

Welded in (poorly but it holds)

Silicond around the seams

And tommorrow when the silicon dries i'm going to prime it and paint it with rust inhibiting paint.

I did one other spot and three more are being done hopefully tommorrow. Then i'm going to undercoat the thing so this never happens again.

And yes I know all you people with experiance and who had someone to show you how to do it can do a better job :)

You don't notice the blacktop under the hole? Thats the floor right next to the door.

geeze pyro your welding sucks :P

kidding, mine isn't much better.

is that Blue RTV?
if it is i'm doubting it will dry
i put the stuff on my sunroof to seal it shut because i can't get a seal for it anymore and its torn.

but yeah, undercoating = good.

should have used body caulk. you only need to tack it all around at about 1/2" spacing, no need to run a full weld bead on a patch that size.

Well my hope was I would be able to weld it well enough that it would be sealed with metal and not require any glue. That kind of failed, on the one I just did 5 minutes ago thats what I did, a bunch of tacks and I have the actual caulk made for it now.
And I just realized I should have primed before the silicon, thats what I did on this one. They are getting progressivly neater :)

One or two more to go (not sure if its one big one or two little ones) but its raining so it will probably wait for tommorrow.

And my last sawzall blade is beyond shot :(

the blue RTV on my sunroof still isn't dry and i did that just after winter.

crap.

oh well, i did rear shocks yesterday, pulled the "bad" one off and compressed it on the cement and black water poured out of it, it was waaay shot, the other wasn't too bad but i replaced them both anyways.

next i'm replacing the rear brakes.
