OK well I just got a new Matrix and I had let a friend use it at a tourny because it needed fixing and he could do it as well as use it. So I said sure you can use it but if you lose it or get it stolen I will kill you.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_201.gif' border=0></a> then like this<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_117.gif' border=0></a>
So then I get a call today from my local paintball shop and they tell me my gun is lost and the kid you was using it is afraid to tell me.

So I flip out becasue my previous marker was stolen and I did not get it back for a year then two weeks ago I got it back and sold it for the trix. So basically I have not had a gun for a little over a year.

What should I do too him, his family or what.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_1_214.gif' border=0></a>

report the stolen item/s to the proper athorities and learn your lesson. thats about all you can do.

Its never a smart idea to pass around $1000's worth of equipment.

wow that sucks..u sure he didnt steal it and say he lost it? try to make him buy you a new marker until you get urs back, which i doubt he'll do. or if your really pissed at him, cause him a 1000 worth of dmg(but thats prob a bad idea)

if he left around thinking it was safe it was his fault and he should pay to replace it

if he was robbed (somebody literally took it from him) then I would take it a little easy on him but either way he lent it should have taken care of it

orr maybe your being punkd :)

Did it really get stollen from him or did he steal it from you? I'd be on a war path myself.

If you told him he was responsible, make him or his parents replace it. Guns generally get stolen because people leave them unattended. He should have shown an EXTRA level of concern with your equipment. He owes you a replacement.

If he is a trustworthy friend, make him pay half. Or else suspect him of stealing it and selling it. That's fairly suspicous. People don't just "lose" their guns.

i never lety my own stuff otu of my sight, much less something im borrowing, i say you take some money, or something as colleteral you can pawn off untill he finds the marker

edit- pay a visit to your local paintball shop, if your friends with the employee's it may be there getting fixed, adn they are just screwing with you, why would your friend tell them but not you

Make him replace it. I never loan out my marker, unless I'm there and just not playing.

Well, if I were the other guy. I'd mount a search and rescue effort like no other. Assuming it didn't show up in a couple days, I'd then be finding you, begging you NOT to kill me, while trying to find a new trix to replace yours or just give you cash value on one in similar condition (your option). I then would walk away like a beaten puppy and never ask anything from you again.

In your situation, you should hit the kid up for the cost of the gun. It was in his possession and was his responsibility. You always treat borrowed stuff like it's made of solid gold. I lent my mag to a friend and when I came to pick it up at the end of the day, he didn't even wipe it off. Paint everywhere. Needless to say, he won't be able to borrow anything again. Condolences on the trix. :(

Yeah I made sure he knew the consequences (sp) of losing my marker, and I made sure he knew what was up.

Did it really get stollen from him or did he steal it from you? Well I hope it did not get stolen and it was just misplaced but yeah I know he did not take it becasue he is younger than me and I see him a few times a week, and he knows I could kick his arse good.

No matter what he is going to pay in full for it.

I told him that if he left it on a talbe that someone had to always be watching the table. He knows I am super anal about this kind of stuff becasue I am goo dat getting stuff stolen.
You lost my trix o man i would
Yeah I am going to kill him, and hows the e-mag

He lost it, he needs to replace it. It is pretty simple.

WARPED1
07-15-2004, 10:25 AM
And give him limited time in which to replace it!

Threaten to castrate him with a broken beer bottle if he dosn't find it or pay for it. Or just tell his parents.

Don't make a physical threats. That's just stupid. It's called "assault", and could get you in serious trouble.

Insist that he or his parents replace your missing equipment. Get your own parents involved if you have to. Small claims court is a possibility, too.

Here is a story of what happened to me in high school. I once left my door opened after school. I was standing less then ten feet away when this guy steals my cd case from my truck. Knowing he did this I followed him home. Talked to his parents about the situation and kindly asked the cds be returned, and if I could fight thier son. The dad and I talked for twenty minutes about the two requests. He gave me my cds and ten minutees wth his son. It took me two to put him on his back and break his nose.

 (referring to the post about CD's)

Pete, I think you should just hit him up for the cost of the marker. Or make him buy you a new one. What kinda trix was it?

Dude, it’s kinda late but don’t ever let anyone use your gear if you are not present. I would most certainly work out something with the guy. Since he asked you to borrow your gun I doubt you can use his in the mean time. Take it from me, I’ve lost friends because I don’t let them play with my trix (I made an exception to that rule once but I never took my eves off the guy) because I know my guns (IMM & XMAG) are irreplaceable.
Work out something with the guy and be dead sure he is not scamming you.

Good luck with that, bro

Make him get you a new one. If he refuses, and so do his parents, report him to the police. Nothing like an officer knocking on the door to make a kid fess up, or pay you back the money for the gun.

Exactly. It's taking responsibility. If I borrowed your car (or truck ;) ) and crashed it, would you simply pay for it and be mad at me? No, you would make me pay for it THEN beat me to within an inch of my life and THEN be mad at me. Whether intentional or accidental, HE was responsible for it and HE needs to replace it.

Yeah, it bears repeating: Make him pay for it no matter what. Small claims court may be a good idea, but just think of how long the case would take to reach a judge. THEN, figure in the court costs and lawyer fees.

....

Actually, that may not be a bad idea. Just as long as they give you the money he owes you AND reimburses you for the legal costs.

By the way, I know this has been going for a while, so how's the situation coming along? Has the little guy fessed up/payed you back yet?

I think that in addition to paying you back/buying you another 'Trix, he should let you shoot him point blank in the arse three times. THAT'LL learn him.

Ya whats the update, and I'm pretty generous and usually will let people borrow some of my stuff most of the time but a new trix! I would be way to overprotective of that, is this kid a very good friend of yours?

IIRC most small claims courts are for monetary claims under $1000.. I could be wrong though. If he is the one who stole it we are talking about a felony3 or 4 theft.

I think your being played. One has to have some serious shortcommings to lose a thousand dollar marker that isn't even theirs.

Either way I suggest that you use this opportunity to practice being a complete ***hole. Get as many people involved in this as you can. Tell him to go to the cops and file a report. If he doesn't send the cops to his house. If he stole it, or knows who did he'll be nervous and probably start changing his story around. If he didn't steal it, oh well, he diserves to be harrassed anyway.

Whatever you do, don't do as some have suggested and just write it off as "a bad deal" because it is easier than confronting people.
