Is Dye going to release a new gun every 6 months like WDP has been?

If all the cool companies are doing it, I don't see why not. Bob Long and WDP, so Dye can't be left out!

Already? Prices for the DM4 are going to drop hopefully since the DM5 is comming.

yea, we have known about this for a week or so now. I for one was sour about it. Hence why im trading my dm4 for a viking. im tired of taking financial hits on markers. I consider my self a gun aficianado, and i hate taking hits.

The dm5 is very promising, altho the fact that they cranked out a new marker in a year, baffles me. Every other company doesnt re work their markers completely in a year. not even bob or WDP. look at the timmys, they all run on the same platform for the year model. 2k2 timmys all function the same, same with the 2k4's. Wdp is the same way. the speed, a4 and fly4 all work the same, off of the speed platform.

oh well

i wouldn't expect a huge price drop in dm4s, maybe a hundred or 2.

But I already started contemplating selling my dm4 while resale is good, then add a couple hundred and buy the 5 when it comes out.

Still undecided.

Does anyone have any cosmetic info?

*just thought of this... whats going to become to the shocktech DM4?

wobbles82
08-01-2004, 11:40 PM
Cosmetic info..I saw on Pbnation..I forget what it said though. Smaller, lighter, faster? Isnt that the typical standard..oh..right..uglier..other than that, good to go. As for the Shocktech, I wouldnt expect and huge changes or missales, if it doesnt sell its because of the look, but Shocktech usually makes their markers late, and for once, they made one early, and now it might be considered late if the DM5 is released so early.

Just a question..magman, if you dont like taking financial hits..why buy a marker that isnt in production anymore? I dont think DM4's values will go down much, I never saw their value as huge because everyone is the same, but theyd prolly still hold 9-1k. And if ya really like the marker whats the point in considering value? I think the DM5 may piss these people off, id be. Its like Dye put out the DM4 and then makes a new marker like that, how much support does that show? Bob Long has supported his original design almost 100 percent, old gen guns and new gen guns have differences that are so small, you can interchange the parts like nothing almost. WDP has followed a very similar design in all their guns, they do make tons of new guns, but like Bob Long, they are usually cosmetic or feature loaded but still following a general design.

In any case, the DM5 is going to reveal something about the company. Im hoping they stick with the design, and just make it more lightweight, for the sake of valuing customers. I also hope the DMX rocks peoples socks off just like the NYX did when it came out.

same deal with the speed and A4, the thing is tho, they are all based off the same platform. there are no internal differences

dm4 is still a freakin awesome gun. I wouldn't drop it for anything else besides a newer version of a trix.

The DM4 came out before last Christmas. It will be a year since the intro of the DM4 to the DM5. Since then only one aftermarket version of it has been introduced. All of you concerned about resale value should be grateful DYE has a chokehold on who gets to redesign their gun (a.k.a. fix their mistakes).

How much you wanna bet thats all the DM5 is... A new bolt kit to go along with a new milled body, and hey, thats a new gun!

logamus

i would imagine there is not much difference betweent a dm5 and 4. perhaps a better bolt or slightly different milling but prolly not much. that $1500 is not far off from where the dm4 started and when you figure each new year the guns go up a tad that sounds about right. there might be a slight dip in dm4 value when the 5s first come out, but i would expect it to be tempoary. dye trixes (dm3) still hold their value pretty well, i would think the dm4 would as well.

The DM5 is only supposed to be basically a DM4 with some new milling, better effeciency (evolve, for DM4's would fix this).. and some other features like LCD and crap.. It's not supposed to be something really drastic

Please tell me they are going to defuglify it this time and make it look like a good old reliable paintball gun... I'm totally opposed to all these alien lookin' space-aged trashy lookin' guns. Obviously all IMO.

I highly doubt it will debut at the San Diego NPPL. Dye is a huge supporter of the psp and does not like the nppl. This is why dye didnt even bother showing up to the HB NPPL.

WEll our store asked dye about it since we are sponsored by them. We pretty much said why did we buy all these dm4's if you guys are just going to make a better gun in a year. They said you could send your existing dm4 in plus 200 or so for all the new goodies
